“At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.” Nowhere was this statement more evident than in the city of Bombay. It nurtured dreamers and turned a busy commercial port into the city of dreams.
Watch the story of Bombay through the eyes of legendary ad man, theatre artist and activist, Gerson da Cunha. www.mumbaimirrored.com

Well said Gerson "The citizens are more concerned about complaints rather than doing something about those complaints." Change is the only constant and it is our duty as citizens to EDUCATE citizens on their civic duties and bring about change and clean the system.

At the Stroke of the Midnight Hour India wakes up to be Free ! As a post independent child me my generation of independent india Indians are wondering which of the india was or is the Role Model ? While I celebrate the material victories of Democracy but honestly the Disillusioned with how Democracy has failed to give opportunities to many who aspire to play a leadership role in politics to steer the country onto that india of our dreams ! I suppose we all have to wait for a couple of more decades !

I came to Bombay (now Mumbai) in Feb. 1963 and was put up in Abhyudaya Nagar. I and my bro-in-law used to go to the Byculla vegetables market in the early morning hours to buy vegetables. I had seen the roads in Byculla being cleaned with running water by the BMC. And now in Mumbai people do not get water to drink. See the extent of degeneration!

With due respect to age he should be forgiven about amnesia & nostalgia. Real history which can be found in books or internet is British gave 99 year lease of Dharavi land in late 1890's ( before birth of this gentleman ) to polluting industries like leather, pottery, low tech recycling. Which due to socialist political calculations of mostly migrant population of slums after independence resulted in Slumification of Bombay. In 1980s (almost 100 year after that ) actually shabana azmi type social workers created problem for government to shift slum dwellers towards outskirt. Your opinion is your opinion , your perception is your perception. Do not confuse them with "Facts" or "Truth" - John Moor

Similarly the British gave prime lands near expanding suburban train stations to Christian churches on 99 year leases... These are now impossible to retrieve because of the entrenched power of the Christians and the Christianized elites, dare I say, like this aged gentleman in the interview.
