You could always use the stripe on the bottom, about 4 to 6 inches. I think that would be really cute, too. Rick rack to separate. I did that with a fancy apron. Looking forward to seeing you make this.

I like her sizing much better and they are closer to ready to wear. I’m a 42” bust and I wear a med to large top...according to fabric.

I agree! Proportions seem much better too!

Hi there. Thanks for this video. My first I've seen of yours. I think the Gertie book is now sold to me. If only for the pop over dress! Good luck with your kitty dress.

I think her sizing is more accurate to what store sizes are, and I think it’s great! It’s really hard for me to have a 26” waist and see a much bigger number for myself on the big 4
@LivingVintageAndHandmade5 жыл бұрын
Yes, her sizing is definitely different then the big four. I am going to review my Popover dress soon, so stay tuned!

Thankyou for this really detailed show of her new book. I’ve got the others and really wanted to know what was in this one and whether I’d be doubling up on her patterns! So thankyou so much!

new subbie here! I love the Michael Miller China Dolls fabric that your garment is made of. Seems that it is no longer available, sadly. I also like his Springtime in Paris print.

kaz coll Thank you for subscribing! I made that dress about 5yrs ago. Too bad they don’t have it any more. I love that Paris print also. I had a hat box made of it more than 15yrs ago so it has been around a long time. I love so many of the Michael Miller prints!

I enjoyed the Gertie review and can’t wait to see your kitten dress!! I’ll be in Ft Smith in a few days and was wondering which thrift store you found the ten cent patterns?
@LivingVintageAndHandmade5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Leslie! I found them at Veteran's Thrift Town 3500 Jenny Lind Rd # B, Fort Smith, AR 72901. I'll be working at Belle Starr this Friday and Saturday if you come by be sure and say hello!

Hi where do you buy your fabrics from ?, the kitten fabric is very cute and I love the print your top is made out of .
@LivingVintageAndHandmade5 жыл бұрын
Hi Christina! I get my fabric from various places both locally and online. The kitten fabric is from Joann's and the dress I am wearing is Michael Miller fabric from Fabric.com. Fashion Fabrics Club online is also another favorite source. You might like this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4fIfoBthNOXf7M

The dress or shirt you are wearing! I am a beginner at sewing and it looks very interesting. Did you make it yourself?
@LivingVintageAndHandmade4 жыл бұрын
Hello Helen and welcome! Yes, I made it several years ago from a vintage pattern. I will look it up when I can and let you know which one it is.

For anyone who has not made a popover dress yet, put the pockets on before you sew the dress together.
@LivingVintageAndHandmade4 жыл бұрын
For the life of me I can’t remember how I did it. Does Gertie say to do them last? What was your experience with them?
@lilibetp4 жыл бұрын
@@LivingVintageAndHandmade yes, she puts them last and it's really frustrating getting them in the right place, then manipulating the big skirt with all four pattern pieces around so you can get them sewn on. It's MUCH easier before you sew the pieces together when there's only one piece to maneuver.
