I find Marjolein fascinating(besides being gorgeous). There she sits patiently watching and listening, turning the pages, not producing the music but essential as without her Gert couldn´t play as he does. Gert is a genius, no doubt of that, stunning talent. Here, I give a shout for Marjolein.

Without a doubt Gert should be elevated among the top musicians on this instrument of all time. For heaven's sake, he played the Bach Toccata and fuge on the Stephanuskirk Hesselt instrument. This is genius in that this organ is a manual and not voiced for Bach. Bach wrote for musicians who played the entire piece without interruptions for voicing changes. The two assistants who pulled stops for this performance managed to make this instrument sing a phenomenal praise it was not made for. Marjolien joins him for the Widor Tocatta on the same instrument, and they also place that organ in a divine context it wasn't meant to manage. I love the sheet music he works from. It's original, and much of it is battered and separated from the spine of the publication. We are at a cultural crossroads where classical music forms are not weighed heavily in relation to public (and especially youth) interest. Please support the pure aesthetic of classical music, (instrumental, orchestral, vocal) while it is still a force in this era. We could easily (very easily) lose it!

Marjolein does a fantatstic job. Just look at her face and body language. She is following the score, feeling the music and is totally aware of every body clue from Gert. In her own right she is magnificent. That is not to take away anything from Gert who is a fantastic musician, to my mind one of the greatest organists I have ever heard.

When I was young and I had to go to church, I went there with a good heart because we had a good organist. If we had had one like Gert, I think I would have run there, to church! Bravo Gert and Marjolaine, you are brilliant and adorable 8-) Quand j'étais jeune et que je devais aller à l'église, j'y allais d'assez bon coeur car nous avions un bon organiste. If you watch the preset counter from the beginning of part one, at 14, then finishes in part two over 160 you have to understand the amazing amount of work it takes to put this all together. Must have taken hours (maybe days) to set up a concert like this. Then pull it all off in what seems like a flawless performance. Marjolein is always right on cue and is no easy task to keep up. I'm glad Gert brought her to the balcony at the end as she certainly deserves some credit for the performance.

Gert, it is pure "ear candy" to listen to your nimble handling of that marvelous organ, and Marjolein is always right on cue, it is lovely to watch your videos, the teamwork and effort that goes in to your performance. I do hope you find your way to Sweden one of these days, both of you, together you seem to make music rather angelic, and I hope to be able to listen to you perform live, be it, I do hope to join a bunch of listeners that does not have an equal tendency to acquire the need for coughing just because they are in a very good acoustic environment. ;-)
