any advice or details about the gear or techniques needed as to film and post these type of content videos (filming the PO and having the sound play straight in video not from PO speaker, audio and video for the piano part or maybe the same for DAW content, etc) ... even the video creation itself seems complicated
@tubesockor
@tubesockor 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Since it is all played in one go, I used two cameras (one for top and one from side). I don’t recall which ones but even if the most flexibility comes when using DSLRs, it would do with basically any iPhone or compact camera. The audio is sent straight into a soundcard, recorded to a stereo track on the computer. For the piano part I used a camcorder and its built-in mic. Then these things should be assembled in a video editing program, and for this kind of content the simplest iMovie or Windows Movie Maker will do. The most important thing is to get the syncing between audio and video correct, and it can help to clap with the hands or hitting a note distinctively to match the peaks.

Can I import drum samples from do studio onto here and save lets say multiple hits of every type of drum hit? And can I save a bunch of different drum loops and import them into different projects on fl studio. My problem is I'm really lazy to sit at my pc and would love to be able to lay down in bed and make a bunch of loops for different songs . How well is it for hip hop and progressive house?
@tubesockor
@tubesockor 7 жыл бұрын
The PO-32 is a pattern based digital synthetic drummachine, not a sampler or a sample player. So instead of importing samples, you design sounds in the Microtonic software.

@tubesockor
@tubesockor 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, lovely to hear that! I don’t have access to Serum or Sylenth, but the sounds should be pretty easy to generate with many basic synths or modulars. But the easiest way to get this specific sound would be to use Microtonic VST since it has the exact same sound engine as the PO-32.

@tubesockor
@tubesockor 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, the PO-32 is the only one in the PO series that can save/restore the sounds (16*2) and sequences (16). It is done by using an audio file (that can be saved on a computer for instance), much similar to how old modems used to work.

as i'm a total noob, can you please explain the "mute sound 15 trick"...didn't get it :D (by the way -> awesome performance)
@tubesockor
@tubesockor 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Ok, let me explain: First of all, the PO-32 has four channels/voices in total, which means the maximum number of sounds that can be played simoultaneously. The channels are arranged as columns, and each sound in a voice will stop any other sound in that voice. In this song, some of the sounds have been programmed as silent (zero volume), among them sound 15. The trick in the original song is that Gesaffelstein has omitted the first 16th note, letting the user believe the 4/4 is somewhere else that it is. To achieve the same thing in my version, I hold down sound 15 at the same time as starting the sequence, which in consequence mutes that first note. Phew, I hope it got somewhat clearer - otherwise keep asking :)

Imagine bringing a PO back to 1985, people would lose their mind.
@tubesockor
@tubesockor 6 жыл бұрын
Actually, back in about 1985 I read a Swedish science fiction novel, it could have been about the 2020s. In that book, one of the main characters got away from some people chasing him by using his handheld ”minisynth”, turning on a police siren sound and throwing it in some other direction. I always imagined a ”minisynth” somewhat like the POs or Korg Monotrons. Eventually they appeared, although not with a speaker powerful enough to simulate a siren :)

Thats awesome dude... but tell me how you mute layers?
@tubesockor
@tubesockor 6 жыл бұрын
Playing and holding down a sound will mute any programmed trigs on that channel. In this track, I also use a number of ”silent” sounds, creating instant mutes.
@Radbalahhouse
@Radbalahhouse 6 жыл бұрын
Oh... let me try it here.. thanks for the quick response. i just didn't get this part " I also use a number of ”silent” sounds, creating instant mutes."
@tubesockor
@tubesockor 6 жыл бұрын
Regarding silent sounds, some of them (13, 15, 16 in this track) have the volume turned down (in the programmed patch) so no sound comes out when playing them. But since holding down a key stops any ongoing or triggered sound on that channel, they will effectively work as instant mutes.
@Radbalahhouse
@Radbalahhouse 6 жыл бұрын

How did you add the 6 and 9 manual drums? Man, this video needs a tutorial (and the patch, comme on, give the people your hard work)!
@tubesockor
@tubesockor 7 жыл бұрын
Since there are only 16 pattern memories I had to plan the usage. At 0:53 I'm reusing the same pattern as played at 0:35, and this pattern has sound 2 as its "snare". But the beat before 0:53 is using 6 as the "snare", so I played it manually on beat 2 and 4 to match it. Then sound 9 is just a fill-in tom on the last eight-note in the measure. If enough people want me to do a tutorial on it, I might do it - same goes for the patch - who knows :)

It took me 15 minutes but I think I get it now. This is a very clever trick!
