I've searched KZbin and this is by far the most informative video on GD ! 9 years old and it's so concise and just makes it really easy to understand!

The part you can control is after meals, but you can't control your fasting blood sugar. That's why they are making me take insulin at bedtime. I'm up to 38 units now and I'm 35 weeks pregnant. They are going to induce me to have the baby in two weeks.

thank god u mentioned exercising! most videos ive watched never mention how even walking 20 minutes after each meals control your glucose.

I have gestationaldiabetes and I am seeing a ob and a diabetes team. And I was told I must eat carbohydrates such as brown bread and rice and berries, apples and pears, otherwise I would end up losing weigh and starving my baby, I was told to always combine the complex carb with protein and fiber to further slow the absorption of sugar, rather than just complex carbs by itself. For example I make a smoothy with frozen cherries, half a small banana, sugar free almond milk, brown rice protein powder, plain Metamucil ( extra fiber) plain Greek yogurt, my dietician approved this. I eat this with 2 hard boiled eggs. So far so good. I was also approved to eat oatmeal with 1/2 cup fruit and hemp seed. I was told to play with the diet a bit if needed. She said she'd put me on metaformin or insulin before she'd cut out all my carbs (complex) I can reduce carbs a bit more if need be but she said absolutely not to do an Atkins style diet.

That's a lie. You and your baby won't starve. Many people do very low carb. I've been eating only 50g a day and my baby has gained 4lbs since I started and my sugars are diet controlled. Doctors should really stop telling people that, it's why most end up on insulin.

I’ve heard different stories from different ‘professionals’ which makes it’s so difficult when all we want to do is be told what to eat and we’ll do it. I just want to do whatever I have to for the sake of my baby but it’s hard when we get given opposing information.

My first pregnancy I gained 100 lbs and was dx with gestational diabetes. It went untreated by my OB. My sin was 9lb 4 oz and I had to have an emergency CS after 48 hrs labor for CPD. Thank God he had no birth injuries! This was way back in 1983.

I failed my test by 11 points. Prior to pregnancy, I’ve been tested for diabetes 4 to 5 times but it always comes back normal. The problem is that I’ve been struggling with eating disorders over the years, and I’m terrified of that restriction if I do have GD :( .. I keep reminding myself that it’s for my son but it’s so tough to deal with and so overwhelming.

it makes me so mad that people like myself look for these videos to learn about the condition and before the video plays i am forced to watch an advertisement for a sugar packed cereal. Better product advertising laws really need to be introduced.

I understand what is being said but I don't understand the whole testing and the science behind it. I'm 28 weeks and my test came back positive today. I've had a healthy lifestyle and get a yearly phand labs one so I'm not sure how one can get this stuff while pregnant and how it " goes away" after pregnancy. I'm just very annoyed about this that's all.
@Randomodnar6 жыл бұрын
Its all based on the placenta, and the hormones it gives off. Take the placenta out, no more placenta hormones. No more GD
@jancyjana6 жыл бұрын
I just had a class yesterday. They said your need for insulin triples in the third trimester but your pregnancy hormones sometimes interfere with your insulin oroduction

I eat 50g of carbs a day. You should add extra electrolytes when going this low (magnesium, potassium, and salt). So far my numbers are good and baby is still gaining weight, 50th Percentile can't even tell we have GD.

Vit B6 100mg everyday for two weeks shown to reverse GD (research it yourself), ween off before birth as it reduces breast milk production. Make sure the b6 is P5P version as it is more absorbable. It doesn’t hurt to take it with magnesium and methyl b12 as these help with absorption as well. You’re welcome

I have GD and have been losing weight since before the diagnosis. Is the weight loss going to negatively affect the baby? Is it important to gain weight throughout the pregnancy? What do I eat to ensure proper weight and maintain low blood sugar levels?
@margithammer88352 жыл бұрын
That is what is happening to me right now. I've actually been maintaining the same weight since starting on insulin, but before that, I lost 20 lbs. I'm 35 weeks now.
