Can't wait to work with the class lessons! I find drawing like this is a totally zen activity. I will find much balance and peace by designing my own motifs and just losing myself in the process. Thanks for the video and for creating the class, Sandy!

Design motif class such a clever idea. And great colored pencil erasing idea. Fun!

Ok this class is going on my wish list! I haven't taken your other drawing classes, but I so relate to this type of design, I don't feel it will be a problem for me. I took a zentangle class before and it just clicked. I know this is different but just love the concept. I especially love symmetrical designs so maybe that's why I find it so exciting! Ok, once I get moved, I'm signing up! TFS

Hi, Sandy. You asked about our joy... I think my biggest 'art joy' is when I finish somethng and think it's a failure, and walk away from it with shoulders all hunched up and feeling fed up with myself. Then I go back and look at it some time later / next day, and realise it's absolutely ok or just needs one touch here, or there to resolve it all! And all the stressy stuff just evaporates away and the joy is back in full force. This has happened a lot in the last three years, and I know why it happens, why I lost confidence. It's a big battle to combat, but more and more, I've made myself do just that - clear up and walk away. then go back to it later. Another big joy is when out painting / drawing plein air, and all the conversations that happen as folk stop to look and chat. Those that say, "I can't do that!" and stay to watch, to listen as I show them my 'failures', show them how to see the shapes in a subject, rather than the whole thing, how to draw stick people, then fill them out wth clothes, etc with simple lines, how it's fun just to 'make messes / blobs' then look at them to see what the shapes remind them of, and draw over them, always encouraging them to try it themselves. When they walk away a huge smile on their face, with a piece of 'scrap' paper where they've doodled for themselves, ready to have a go when they get home.. It doesn't matter that I didn't / don't get my own work onto paper. What mattered / matters on these occasions is simply bringing them joy because of my own joy... Oops! I didn't know I was going to type all that (the plein air bit). I was going to say how I enjoyed watching the design develop and grow into a dynamic, cohesive, colourful piece of art as you shared your joy with us. So now I have. Thanks, Sandy for sharing your joys! 😊

When I saw this show up on my feed I wanted to watch it when I had time. I was hoping you were going to let us have this motif as a coloring page but alas!!! You are going to teach me how to make it myself!!! This is exciting. I am getting the class!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤

Is that the closed captioning? I think that can be changed to different languages but I am not positive. It can be turned on and off behind the wheel. If it is not it maybe what you have can be changed there too. Good luck.

It should be a setting somewhere in the video player! Sorry about that.

francebrisson, click on the settings icon at rhe bottom right of the video. Click on subtitles and choose your preferred language. If you don't want the subtitles at all, click them off there or click on the 'cassette' rectangle shape. Hope this helps you! 😊
