Walking away and looking at any work you do is really helpful. As I T've said before, leave it overnight and the painting fairy comes and fixes everything! LOL TFS

Thank you Sandy! My husband used to draw back in college, nearly 40 years ago. While I’ve always encouraged him to start again, and we have planned to take watercolor classes together after he retires in a few years, he was always too busy with other things in our lives and his music. Two weeks ago he was showing our sons and future daughter in law his old sketches. They also encouraged him to start again. He tagged along with me to a craft store while picking up things for my son’s wedding, and bought some new pencils, paper, etc. HOLY COW! His drawings are amazing! I also know they will continue to improve with practice and experience. I really want to set him up with supplies that will make his new art adventures even more exciting and enjoyable. While I have a good understanding of watercolor and card making, drawing is definitely NOT my thing - well I did explain what a kneaded eraser was for). (Seriously, even my stick people look wonky). This guide will be incredibly helpful in setting my hubby up for success. Thank you! Sorry so long.

Of course we can! The only one's who don't want us to do it is the manufacturers. I mix like a wild person but I'm not a professional in anyway😁. 🤓🇸🇪 🤓🇸🇪

I’ve never seen ONE manufacturer recommend that people shouldn’t use brands together. But this video is clearly not for you. It’s aimed towards new artists who wonder all kinds of things you think are silly. You might be surprised by how many email over the years to ask the question. This is for them. 😁

I sure miss her still, my kids had her for such a short time. But I know she is loving all my grands, and great granddaughter. ❤️🌻I love hearing others stories of their Mom and Dad! @SandyAllnock16 күн бұрын
That's what I'm hoping a few people will help to see if it's understandable. Basically all the reds for both mediums are together - so when you're looking to see what a Copic R27 is in Ohuhu, you can look in the area around it to find all the reds available in that brand.
@karenzemko65187 күн бұрын
Bless you for the patience you have to make such a chart. I'm sure your mom is applauding in heaven! Haven't used my Copics in a long time - they're probably all dried up by now. Thanks for all you do to try to help us artists - no matter the medium. TFS

Sandy, been following your page for several months and you have great content. And as somebody who has lost their mom back 2018 and just recently lost my dad in May of this year, I fully understand your pain... I completely understand your gripe with Ohuhu markers as far as the numbering system (or lack of in this case) over saturation of many colors, trust me, I get it... It's annoying. Annoying as trying to ride a bicycle with an ingrown ass hair up a bumpy street. However, that stuff only matters to people who have a need to understand that. Most people just want to color and don't really care about any of that and don't have 1200$ to spend on a full set of Copics only have a few of them dried out upon arrival and re-buy the again, just for a hobby... I've had several that were dry on me when I got them directly from Copic. (ughhhhhh) However, you taking the time to make a Hex chart for those people who have those to help them out even with a set that you don't really approve of, simply for the betterment of other artist, says wonders to your character and your craft... The world actually needs more people like you...
@SandyAllnock16 күн бұрын
Thanks.....I still stand by the fact that Ohuhu makes their product even HARDER for a newbie to use though. The cap colors don't match anywhere near the colors - so how do people choose which to use? I'll still prefer Olo over them any day :)

When you are starting out with a new hex chart, could you make individual color pieces so you can move them around rather than having to recolor each time you change your mind? Then, when you are happy with the results, you could put the colors on a permanent one. This might be what you are doing already, just thought I would throw it out there. I'm sorry about hid loss, I lost my mom a couple years ago and I still find myself talking to her.
@SandyAllnock16 күн бұрын
I start with that, but until you see the colors on the same sheet next to each other it doesn't get you very far. The edges of all those swatches create differentiations that aren't noticeable with separate pieces. And then you see a color you thought was a dull brick red that is actually closer to a desaturated purple...and well, it goes on and on for weeks. LOL
@pink25poppies18 күн бұрын
Are you using the ohuhu markers now, I recall your old video where you didn't seem to care for them?
@SandyAllnock16 күн бұрын
Nope. A friend bought these and made me borrow them (ha!) - we talked about Mom over drinks one day and I told her the story about mom and charts. So she went and ordered the pens and handed them to me at our next lunch and said go make a chart, and a class, then give them back to me. So I think I'm paying penance for panning the pens in the first place, they keep turning back up.....lol. Making this chart did reaffirm for me that I don't like them. The cap colors are just SO badly off it's impossible to find colors, and with a hex chart it's easier but the fonts are inconsistent on the caps and I still can't find what I need. I mean if the darks all had dark caps, that'd help narrow the search, but ugh :(

This is so nice of you to make this chart . I don't use alcohol markers I can't tollerate the smell. If I did use them I would for sure buy this!! I am sorry about your mom❤ I miss mine too she was artistic too. Thank you for doing this it was fun to watch. 😃

This is AWESOME! Thank you!! I will use it because sadly so many of my copics have dried up from their faulty caps. And every time I try to use them I just get depressed when yet another one is dried up, so I haven’t used them in ages. Now when I try to use them and one is dried up I will put the closest Ohuhu color in its place and just throw out the copic. I continue to keep the dried up ones because it hurts to throw them out. I have the complete set and boy do I regret the money I wasted getting them all. Because of the drying out issue, and then the cost of the refills going up as they got smaller and the price stayed the same 😢 Thanks, mom!! Say hi to my mom for me 😊

This is so sad. Have you reached out to copic? I've been a long time copic user and have had pretty good luck working with the company when I get a bum marker. I've had my markers for over 10 years and and I haven't had that many issues. ..so what your saying just makes me so sad... I hope you figure it out. I can't imagine throwing my copics out. I wish you luck in figuring it out.

Having lost my mom this was a tear jerker. I can’t help with the hex chart- don’t own alcohol markers but certainly remember Two Things and a Rant. Glad that your artist mom, like mine, can help even though she’s not “here” any longer. Sending a long distance hug

Sandy, I just finished filling in my Ohuhu chart. I splurged on the 320 set because so many of my Copics are dry. I’m slowly getting the refills I need and would love to get the comparison chart. I’m not a coloring expert so don’t have a preference between the two. My biggest beef with Ohuhu is the cap not matching the actual color of the marker.
@SandyAllnock19 күн бұрын
Oh believe me - big beef with that too :( But unfortunately everybody's getting them because they're so darned cheap...*sigh*

Such a special video. I am curious why you chose to compare copics with ohuhu instead of olo?
@SandyAllnock19 күн бұрын
I'll do Olo next but right now there's more folks using Ohuhu. I figured I'd do the nightmare chart first, because I'll be more excited to get working on the Olo chart. :)
