Interesting because I've been to China twice and I was under the impression foreigners were not allowed to drive there. As for driving or even crossing the street, it's definitely something else in China. But It's awesome that you're doing this tutorial because for people like me who might be going to Shanghai, which I've never been to before. This might be a similar process and I wouldn't mind trying out some Chinese EVS. Just renting them for a day just to see how they are.

The is why I made the video to show people that you can drive in China with this license and it’s easy to get. The procedure in Shanghai is very similar to this. When you go try getting license and drive some cool EVs. China has so many choices when it comes to electric cars it’s hard to choose just one haha.

Awesome tutorial. Now I want to go to China and drive some EVs. Maybe you and your wife should do EV tours in China. Do all inclusive, provide cars, license like this and routes. I would go! Thanks for the video!

My God so easy. I thought they need eye test, written exam and road test. Thank you.

If you do this in smaller towns in China (like Kunming for example) they will ask you to go for a “medical” test which is just a fee payment and a doctor looks you over. Bigger cities like Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing are much easier and faster. From what I know Shenzhen is the easiest. Thanks for watching!

Greetings from a fellow Canadian. Last year my wife and I flew to Hong Kong and then spent a few nights in Shenzhen before making our way to Changchun. I was 67 at the time, and will soon be 68. I'm not sure if my age would make me ineligible to get a drivers license in China. I don't have any health issues. Also, if a license was acquired in Shenzhen for instance, is it valid for other locations in China? My wife is from China, and most of our travelling was done by train, bus, Didi, and my stepsons vehicle. It would have been nice to be able to rent a car or scooter at times. I assume that insurance would have to be purchased at the vehicle rental location. Thank you for the video 🙂.

The main prerequisite to get this Chinese license is having a valid license from Canada (or your home country). If you have one, age does not matter. Also, these licenses are valid in all Chinese provinces so you can drive in Changchun. Finally, when you rent a car always get the extra insurance. We always took their full coverage and it was very cheap. Nothing to worry about if you get into an accident or the car is stolen. I would suggest getting the license in Shenzhen. Like I said in the video, Shenzhen is the most progressive and easy going place to get this done in China. Let me know if you have any other questions!

It’s really easy to get a Chinese driving license for foreigners so I encourage people to get one and rent an electric car next time they go to China.
@LeftCoastEV2 ай бұрын
Yeah it’s really easy. Much easier than it ever was so more people should do this and drive in China. It’s such a cool way of seeing the country, especially by electric car since the charging infrastructure is amazing.

Can i use the temporary driver's license to buy a car ?
@LeftCoastEV2 ай бұрын
Not 100% sure but I believe it wouldn’t be a problem with this license. However, registration of said new car is where it is more complicated in China. I believe you need to have some form of permanent status, address and the like to register a car and obtain plates and insurance. But again I am not that familiar with this so take what I say with a grain of salt. I just rent cars when I got to China!
