Teaching degrees in Canada are a 2 year degree after you have completed a masters degree. If you have a bachelors degree in teaching you may be able to get licensed in certain provinces. There is currently a shortage of teachers so it may be easier to get licensed. If you are willing to work in rural locations or are fluent in French you may be able to get licensed more easily.

Depending on where you are located the unemployment rate and amount of people looking for employment is very different. Nova Scotia has a very large number of international students who you will be competing with for jobs. The economy is also getting a lot worse so a lot less hiring is taking place. There is also minimal hiring done between mid November and mid January except seasonal jobs due to holidays.
