I agree, even with the usual artist surcharge, and rightly so, they have to get their cut of what is a signature artist model after all. Even with that its easily 400 quid at least too much. It doesn't even have proper Gibson pickups, as good as the epiphone cutomised ones might be. I can see them coming down in price pretty sharpish, and be around the 1100 quid mark at most, that would be an OK proposition, 1000 quid be even fairer. As you say, pushing their luck, testing the waters and seeing what they can get away with. Customer will decide in the end and it's not gonna be positive.

To the people who complain that this is too expensive for an Epiphone, do keep in mind this is an artist signature, which does tend to jack everything in price. But, if I had to choose between a Gibson and a Epiphone, give me a Epiphone SG with a triple humbucker over a $8,000 Gibson anytime, and I'll be a happy camper.
@silasmcall Жыл бұрын
It's still too much. I would say it's justified if It had BurstBuckers, but I can pick up a triple pickup SG custom in white at Long & McQuade here in Canada for what's around 750 US. So comparing that to almost double at 1,400 and there's not even a pickup upgrade is dissappointing. But there's still the case which probably 150 ish in value and the Kluson Wafflebacks Probably around 130 ish and that with the artists name and custom finish makes it not as bad as people make it out to be.
@BlueDragon7511 Жыл бұрын
@thoiss-is-cool Yeah, well, I am more of a heavy metal guitarist. So, considering what I play, the pickups won't make a huge difference in terms of tone. Volume, maybe, but I just want a presentable instrument that isn't horrible with the QC. If I really don't like it, then I'll simply go ahead and swap those out for some Seymour Duncans and wire them up. At least I won't be wasting $8,000 - $12,000 on a Gibson custom/artist signature.

I find it funny some talk about getting a used Gibson near the price of this as if that's so much better? First, Gibson has 'overpriced' their guitar for sometime not to mention quality control. Epiphone has done nothing but make their product better in recent years. The other statement is Gibson shouldn't keep Epiphone down to be an entry guitar to Gibson. Well, if you want more in anything you have to pay more. When you sit and compare Epiphone to Gibson many times it will go toe to toe. You also have to ask if you get a Gibson Standard SG or 61 reissue is the difference noticeable ESPECIALLY for those playing at home and jamming with friends. Most of the time no. End of story I haven't played this but I have played other Epiphone SG models and if this is in line with them it most likely worth every penny. After all the magic is in the fingers of the player more than the guitar itself.

What is affordable for you? 1700€??? Prefer I going to nix Gibson or Tokai for that Money ….People still forget, That epiphones every Pricerange have three Pieced necks and maybe More than two pieces of Wood for the Body…..ergo they still Made cheap….. although i dont want to say epiphones are Bad guitars , they are sounding great ( I Own two of them) but they Made to Poor for that pricerange….epiphone should overthink Their Price politics

Gosh the profit epiphone makes out of these must be ridiculous.. for this price Go for a gibson! Better resail value, more mojo, and stop supporting underpaid chinese workers..

£1499 for this guitar is insane- £899 would be overpriced. Only fanatics will buy this guitar.

Aint no Epiphone out there worth over a $1000. Especially this budget guitar. The neck is junk. Pick ups, really suck. Turners are cheap.
