Harmony! In cake decorating, you put a dot of the leaf green in the rose pink, and a dot of the pink in the green, so they will be in harmony and look like they came from the same plant. Excellent tutorial.😊

Great demo on how to mix oils. Clare first painted a Value Study "Jobie". She used a Limited Palette-3 Primaries with a warm and a cool: Cad Yellow Medium, Cad Yellow Lemon (Michael Harding), Cad Red, Permanent Rose, Veridian, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue. On panel, did blue line drawing. Let dry. Did transparent underpainting with a Yellow and red and little Gamsol. Premix colors with palette knife. Go from Dark to Light, from Thick to Thin. Rosemary Bristly Brush. Simplify shapes. To lighten, use Yellow vs. Titanium White. Dark Green=Cad Yellow+UB. Value Specs help. Squint.

This was a very enjoyable video to watch. Although I paint in realism style I appreciate the looser style. A lovely painting. Just one thing I would change is to make the bowl stand level on the table, but I guess that is all part of the style. Thank you.I'm watching from Australia.

At exactly 49:49, in, Clare pulled out a "Prepared Finished Painting", and for me it verified exactly what I was thinking ...her unfinished "raw" painting is perfect with that wonderful blue she used for the drawing popping out, .....I think it looks much better then the one she just whipped out that was done before hand and finished. Richard Schmidt would credit Nancy for making him stop when he should so as not to hit it over the head. Good work Clare, I've watched you for some time now. I study everyone and I love your positive attitude, and your great guy Mr. B!

Holding the arm pallet kind 24:36 out-of-favour.. use zinc White maybe for tints.. yes try to hold off White.. as long as possible mixing other things to get the effects

Clare’s explanation of warm and cool colors is the opposite of what I have seen from most other artists. To me yellow is the warmest of the colors, so a reddish blue would be cooler than a blue with a bit of yellow in it.

She said that cereelian is cooler than ultramarine because it has more yellow in it .. if it has more yellow in it cerelian would be warmer than ultramarine, which has a cool magenta in it .at least that’s what I’ve learned.
