Nice concise information. It just made me realize that Sv is what Auto on a film camera was. I'm mostly just used to Av, but Lee Iveson made some vid about TAv, and motivated me to go try it out. Actually enjoy that mode when I think I might have some moving subjects, like squirrels 😂 I've also recently been toying with Manual for night and darker scenes.

Kobie Great video I could have used this when I got my first Pentax DSLR I assumed it was a the same as a film camera with a digital sensor how wrong I was I had no idea about the different modes. Most of my lenses at that were manuel focus A lenses and I was used to the split screen for focus I had no idea the camera gave you focus confirmation and the majority of my pictures were out of focus. Even my first autofocus lenses I used mostly manuel focus and guessed when I was in focus. A part of the problem was the camera the Pentax istDL with its limited number of focus points is slow to focus unless you put it in spot focus and metering than adjust the espourser in post processing. I didn't even use editing software until 2015 and then I had to teach myself how to use it. It wasn't until 2015 i got out of auto mode i spent 10 years using auto. I started experimenting with different modes when I bought my K50 a much better camera than the istDL in so many ways the autofocus was fast and accurate which led me to experimentation in the different modes so now I have no problem using any of the modes on any of my Pentax cameras

Yeah, lots and lots and lots. But then again, an expert-level flagship is supposed to give you options. If you wanted, you could set the camera to total point-and-shoot mode (which is what Auto essentially gives you). And you have to hand it to them that they did an admirable job of organizing all those options in the menues and dedicated/customizable buttons. Obviously, there is a considerable learning curve for a beast like the K-3 III.

Focus Modes?

@@MikeCaffyn1 I have covered the focus settings in depth. I haven't done a dedicated single vs continuous AF video though. My thought is that it's pretty self explanatory "single = 1 time" and "continuous = constant".
