I have the Model Y Long Range Reflector headlights and never liked it. So, I got my hands on something insane. QUAD Beam projectors, sequential turn signals, all black housing, the alpharex nova series LED headlights for the tesla model 3 and y is sexy!
I compared the Reflectors, the Model YP Matrix LED Projectors, as well as the alpha rex headlights in a battle on which one is better. I also installed these myself and it wasn't bad at all.

I appreciate all the work you put into the video. I am not decided on what lights I like best. We have a lot of deer here and having the side of the road lit up less does not sound appealing. I just hit a deer with a different vehicle last month. I made a video about it but unfortunately I had no dash cam on board.

The thing that put me off is the aux wire run to the 12v battery and losing the ability to adjust from the screen. Honestly, for the kind of driving I do, I find my Model 3 reflectors more than adequate and I've never been flashed by oncoming traffic. Maybe if one of them fails, I'll consider going this route. Once again though, outstanding video. I watched from start to finish. Great job, Chris!!

we have the standard projector matrix on the MY in Germany, but unfortunately the lack of matrix is a shame.. I really miss my EXCELLENT audi Matrix headlights from me last Q5... those were amazing for mountain passes and long cross continental drives.

excellent work, these lights are really awesome, but after seeing your results i'm honestly considering just sticking with my normal reflector lights as i can see more along the side of the road for deer and other wildlife which is a big problem in my area. man those lights look so good though haha ugh. i'm torn

I love it. way brighter. cooler. after I got it adjusted to the beam height I like I don't have any regrets. and no zero retrofit options for now and not likely.

I guess they were forced to fit the matrix headlights to the long range Y's for a period as they had no standard headlight units. Really enjoy your Tesla videos btw. I hope Simba is doing well. 🤞

I might go for these as I have the reflectors and won’t get the matrix update whenever it rolls out. My only complaint about the Model Y LR headlights are that they look cheap and belong on a mainstream economy car. I wish Tesla offered a retrofit for the projector headlights so I don’t have to go aftermarket.

Yeah matrix would be cool but apparently even if you were to get it you'd have to change the software which they won't do. I'm happy with these ones. I'm wondering if the NON blacked out ones are brighter. Maybe I can get the non blacked out ones and compare

@@EverydayChris Matrix lights won't serve me purpose anyways since I live in SoCal and there's street lights everywhere. I was thinking of getting the chrome ones as well, maybe brighter. It’s not glare, it’s a “squirrel finder” which is intentional for reflecting lights off signs. Also, you can’t just base performance on cut-off lines and brightness with a cheap light meter. There’s so much more to it like hotspots for proper beam throw and balance lighting for the foreground. From the video alone, the foreground is overexposed. Tons of misinformation from this video.

We are currently working on a workaround for the new software update. Since Tesla has been pushing out multiple updates ever since the first 2023.32.1, we would not want to come out with a temporary fix, then come to find out it gets bricked again. At this time, we encourage any owners not to update to the 2023.32.XX updates. If it has been done, the headlights will no longer work and the OEM will need to be reinstalled followed by reinstalling the software in the service menu.
