I just saw another video that said non-Highland Tesla Model 3's in China can get the Highland LED lighting retro fitted as a $180 upgrade, installed by Tesla Service. This is a good indication that Highland and Juniper LED lighting options might be retrofitted to slightly older Model 3's and Y's in the US at some point. So, for those that like the aftermarket lighting options, there might be an OEM lighting upgrade option coming at some point in the future.

FYI you're not plugging into the high voltage battery when you plug into that harness, it's going to the 12V battery. All the accessories run off the 12v battery, not the High Voltage battery!

RIGHT! I actually figured that out while thinking about it a few days later. Thanks for pointing that out.

How much of the glass roof do you lose? How does rhe size compare to the manual retractable shades? Thanks.
@CfTesla7 ай бұрын
Good question. I can't tell you exactly since I no longer have the retractable. I have it away. But at worst it is the same as the retractable. If I had to guess I would say the electric is narrower on the sides and front and maybe a tad bit larger on the back where the motor is.

Where can I buy this? Would you know if it is available in Canada?
@galaxiedance31355 ай бұрын
If you want to hold it up... How about just take 2 long ropes, put one over the roof and through the rear doors. Then do the same to the front. Then you can loop it under the sunshade and pull on the rope till it's as high as you want it. then tie it off.. adjust if necessary. Same with the front. Then you can easily do what you want and anytime you let go, the rope will catch it. I think that's as easy as you can get without having objects inside the car. A dollar store will have some rope for dirt cheap.
@Keashane4 ай бұрын

Ya but yiu just tested the glass, which diesnt really equal the heat transfer in5o the cabin. Especially as that glass is factory tinted. Woukd have been better to compare the ambient temp in the cabin before and after, which probably wiuldnt have ended up being much different.. @@CfTesla

I wonder how much cheaper Teslas could be with the aluminum roof instead of the glass. Maybe more of us could afford it then.
@Resist47 ай бұрын
Very interesting product but too pricy for me right now and I don't like how much glass the edges cover. But as heavy as that product is, do you feel it will stay securely in place during an accident? So the motor is exposed on the top, can you see it when you look down from outside?
@CfTesla7 ай бұрын
You loose about 3 1/2 on each side, about 6" up front and about 11" at the back. Trust me when I say you don't notice it. My kids didn't even notice it was in there until days after when I showed them the switch. No you cannot see the motor. The glass is too tinted. Maybe on a day full without sun or rain if you were to cup your hands and stair hard...but I doubt it.
