Been revisiting this band and fucking hell, so good. Albarn, Gallagher, Ashcroft, Anderson; all musical heroes but not sure any of them ever matched this song musically or lyrically. OCS were terribly unfashionable back in the day, dunno why. They're absolutely brilliant.

Ocean Colour Scene were one of the best bands of the 90's - the only reason I can think of is the fact that they weren't as good looking?

Absolutely top class Seen them at Stirling Castle back in 97 or 98 I'm 46 now and I was lucky in my late teeens/20s that we had so many top bands at that time OCS in my top 5 Oasis The Beatles The Jam Stone Roses OCS

I was at Stirling Castle, but nothing tops the Barrowlands. It was nuts.

Saw their first ever Scottish gig at The Plaza Ballroom (Still got the ticket stub😂) 2 years later the first of many Barrowland Ballroom gigs. Weller doesn't choose Lil' Stevie as his Lead Guitarist for nothing. Top band! Top tune! Yeeee-haaa!

I was there. Sometimes a band just nail it. What a song from an extremely underestimated songwriting band. Proper musicians. Some songs don’t die, this’ll be one of them

Love reading the comments from the old feckers .... We like this music were cool once ...keep reading underated .... Nah ... They weren't mainstream but we're still massive ...and their music has aged well with time ...unlike myself 😂 ah to be in my 20s again ... Best of times best of music ! 😎

When she blows the candle flame to smoke She says a prayer for all of those who live in houses and in homes And Monday she'll go down town and standing naked in the road You may know what I am but who I am you don't know She'll run across the mustard dust sand And scream down the wind And the sea is in a cold Like when in holiday homes And houses like sweets confectionary Sandcastles and drinking wine Hungry dinners perfectly timed And mother and father glowing and young Happy to be eachother together When she blows the candle out She goes to bed and lies and drags in through her head The way that went the way of everyday But tommorrow she'll fly a plane Over the fields where the houses arn't built yet She smiled sweetly across the room Through the lunch time smoke And I loved her for a second And discarded the queen and I know How sweetness turns to sour And leaves they turn to brown And then to earth and dust And settle in this town You get blown away When she blows the candle flame to smoke She says a prayer for all of those who live in houses and in homes And Monday she'll go down town and standing naked in the road You may know what I am but who I am you don't know She'll run across the mustard dust sand And scream down the wind And the sea is in a cold Like when in holiday homes And houses like sweets confectionary Sandcastles and drinking wine Hungry dinners perfectly timed She smiled sweetly across the lunch time smoke And I loved her for a second And discarded the queen and I know When men are little boys again And woman cruel step mothers of old And this is the invention The adeventure of my own I get blown away...
