Thank you for this - brings back memories of my father cleaning out our pond. We were always interested to see how many fish there were as you can't really tell just by looking in and counting what you see. Great work Ken - and Dax:-)

Ah, thank you. We only lost one little fish. Lot of work, but worth it😊

I know just what you are going through, mine went the same way after 25 years. 2 one tone bags full of plant roots Lilly corms and fish poo. 🤣🤣 Just about ready to put the liner back in next week after a bit of fettling on the waterfall.

It's a job well done though. Our fish are happy, we can enjoy watching them and the dog is now clean!

Do not lay slabs around your pond when you’re fish are in it. The cement and mortar will drop into the pond and can poison the fish. My top tip is to partially fill the pond then lay the slabs, the following day you should empty the pond, hoover out any debris then refill and put your fish back in. I would also add that you should try and save as much pond water at the beginning of the work as it’s good mature water

Thank you, we would usually have done much of that but circumstances did not allow! Pleased to say the fish are fine - except for our koi who got stolen during the process 😡😡
