At 62 years young and just getting back into MTB riding after a 25 year layoff. I love this channel! I am also a big fan of Eminem! Keep up the great work guys!

Thank you for the content! I went through a pretty rough patch when I was 29 diagnosed with cancer(in remission), ended a ten year relationship and then left a steady job that I was feeling stagnant in and I really let my health go. I got a nice Hardtail a couple weeks ago and I have been trying to ride 2x a day every day. It's incredible to feel my body come alive again and to feel the pleasure of getting a tiny bit fitter every time I get on the bike. It's hard and I'm in terrible shape but it's a start. I am so thankful to content creators like you that have helped so much with tips and advice!

Scott Tomassetti I ve got a 2015 strive 6.0 and my shapeshifter got fixed three times. the guy from canyon said now is good and then failed again. But the problem is that it doesn't keep the pressure and the line gets loose after 3 rides or 2 .

What gear are you in when you do the intervals. It looks like you are in an easy gear. Do you ever do it in a harder gear and what is the reason for this.

How would you work this into a regular workout routine? Could I do these in the morning and then hit the gym the same evening for strength training? Or do I have to recover for the rest of the day?
@gibso93955 жыл бұрын
Surya Vanamali don't mix both workouts in the same plan, all that stress will run your body down to the floor in no time. Try to hit the gym during your base training or long slow ride season, and work on this later on as your race or season gets closer to sharpen up your fitness according to your event demands.

Are these 3 exercises to be done all in one session ? How often should you do them?
@CanIHasThisName8 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Thing is, you can and you don't have to. The point of intervals is to get used to the effort spikes, as well as getting the ability to produce effort even when not fully recovered and in a nutshell, the intervals can be anything, as long as it challenges you physically - 10 seconds on-off, 1 minute on-off, 3 minutes on 30 second full-on 1 minute off... The key is in introducing variety. Once you get used to a certain type of exercise, it's really easy to just keep standing still and not progressing any further. It's also important to do your base miles and keep mixing things up. And a hefty climb every once in a while is also nice. As with all exercises, do them as often as you want and can. If you're not training for a race, it's all about helping yourself to having more fun on the bike when riding normally.
@N_Frouin8 жыл бұрын
Hi there, actually, how do you perform the ON intervals ? Do you pedal quick and work on velocity or slower with a strong stoke ?
@CanIHasThisName8 жыл бұрын
Niki Kite The ON portion can be either a 100% effort, or more of a 80-90% effort. Generally, shorter the interval, the higher the effort. The correct way of riding is pedalling faster, rather than harder. It's easier on your knees and also more efficient on long rides. If you want to improve strength, you can either do intervals while climbing, or you can go accelerating at the highest gear - in a nutshell, shift to your hardest gear ratio, slow down to nearly 0 speed, then accelerate as fast as you can to 20km/h while seated, slow down again, repeat. Do this only at the end of the ride. Also, intervals are best done in terrain, but it may be hard to find a good route for doing it.
@gmbn8 жыл бұрын
Broken up across a week or two, they are all individual workouts so to be done one at a time. Unless you are seriously fit we probably wouldn't recomend doing interval sessions more than twice a week with them being well spaced apart...
@Kengouru6 жыл бұрын
Hahahaa!!! I just read this after doing them all in one session twice this week and almost dropping dead on the trail yesterday! I was thinking I must be seriously unfit! A little relief there!
@MsMadwilly787 жыл бұрын
Are these suppose to be in one day?
@ucdengboss6 жыл бұрын
These all have interval "work" times between 10s and 1 minute. All pretty short. What about longer intervals like 6X5mins in Z5 w 2-3 min recovery between or 4X8mins in Z4 w 3 mins recovery between or 3X15mins or 2X20mins SST w a good 10 mins+ between. Do these have their place in XC MTB training?
@gibso93955 жыл бұрын
Vincent Bossi of course it all comes down to the track or race your're trying to train for. This are usually for XCO and DH disciplines lots of power in very short efforts repeated over & over again
@rynhardttruter79386 жыл бұрын
Should you combine these 3 exercises into one workout, or do them separately on different days?
@gibso93955 жыл бұрын
Not a good idea. It's best to do each workout in separate days to mix it up a little bit. Try to put a couple of recovery or easy spin days in between each one of these drill sessions, so no more than 2 or 3 per week. These are also best applied during a specific training block prior to your event, if they match the demands of that track of course XC, XCO etc.
@shanelennon65846 жыл бұрын
How often would u recommend to do these intervals to notice a good difference in your fitness
@gibso93955 жыл бұрын
LENNON MTB 2 to 3 times a week tops. Depending on your fitness level. If your relatively new on this I would do 2 at the most per week not example mondays and Thursdays, and cut it in half of what this video specifies if they feel too hard to complete them. And as you get fitter keep building em longer with more repetitions to your specific goal

Keeping time seems like it would distract from putting in all the effort you can. How do you keep time without having to think about it?
@sp00n8 жыл бұрын
Got me wondering too. Counting down from 10 or 30 seems while sprinting is okayish, I've done it on my trainer, but that pyramid thing... seems like you need a watch or a bike computer that supports these kind of things.
