How long did you wait to water it in? unless you did it right after

Is this what I should use (both) to green up my grayish spots (they are heat spots caused by my neighbor from across the street who has a two-story house in the sun, reflects off his windows directly onto my lawn about 1/5 of my lawn is turning that gray color

You could look into a product called hydretain. I have not used it before, but I have seen/heard good things.

I’m developing hot spots /grayish spots (they are heat spots caused by my neighbor from across the street who has a two-story house and the sun reflects off his windows directly onto my lawn about 1/5 of my lawn is turning that gray color.. I am about one week overdue for my fertilizer application 28 - 0-1 but also want to try the baby shampoo treatment and I have some grated iron. I want to put down which of those three should I put in first or should I wait in between some of these elements like maybe the fertilizer and iron now and then next week do the baby shampoo application or can I do all three in certain steps at the same morning ?
@GriffithLawnLabs7 ай бұрын
Make sure your lawn gets enough water, especially with the current hot and dry weather. Apply the 28-0-1 fertilizer first to address nutrient needs. You can use baby shampoo instead of Dawn liquid dish soap to improve soil moisture retention, and apply it with grated iron right after the fertilizer for an immediate health/green-up effect, but only do this if the main fertilizer doesn't already have a lot of iron.

Use your mower lines as guides

Thanks for the tip. If only I had a mower that made stripes in the grass. 😢

When you put down liquid iron...how many minutes or hours do you recommend waiting before watering? TIA
@GriffithLawnLabs8 ай бұрын
Great question, and I should have addressed this in the video. I watered the following day. Here are the watering details for each product: Southern Ag Liquid Iron: Best to wait about 12-24 hours before watering to ensure the iron is absorbed by the grass blades and doesn't wash away. Urban Farm Liquid Lawn 13-1-2: Water in after application to move nutrients into the root zone. Greene County 0-0-5 Sea-K: Water in after application to ensure it reaches the root zone. BioAdvanced Fungus Control: Needs to be watered in after application to activate the fungicide and help it move into the root zone.

This reminds me of when you go to 7-11 and get a large slurpee and put every flavor into your cup! 😂. #LawnSlurpee

Oh yes! That's right! Did you call that drink a "suicide" because that is what we called it where I grew up?

I also seem to be incapable of hitting the edge if my last line and the next line, heck for that mater I do not seem to keep a straight line! Okay with that aside. How do you judge your pace to match the 1 gallon per 1000 square feet. Maybe I just walk too fast, with the sprayer and spreader both. Good content. Thanks man
@GriffithLawnLabs8 ай бұрын
LOL! It's like cooking a regular dish without using an exact recipe - you get a new taste every time! Honestly, I am thinking about putting down markers/flags and overlapping a bit each pass. You need to pick a waypoint on each pass and walk straight towards it. There's a process to figuring out how much you need in the tank and the walking pace to know how much you need to cover. Ron Henry has a good video out there showing you how to do it.

I mow my yard first and I spray my yard down the lawn stripes. I usually walk fast spraying too anything left I'll hit the neighbors line so it's extra dark along there and I'll start walking and spraying at a diagonally from the first pass.

@@treed3476 you would think after mowing for 50+ years I would have thought of that!😂. Great advice thanks

Why not use some blue turf dye? That will show you the areas that you’ve covered with your spray.
@GriffithLawnLabs8 ай бұрын
Yes, I have and that stuff gets everywhere! Might use it rarely for spot spraying weeds, but broadcasting it? I'd end up with Smurf Turf!

You know it’s kind of a good thing you missed a few spots so we can see how effective the products are.

I can assure you it wasn't on purpose, LOL! But, it worked out. I ended up getting some Simple Lawn Solutions Iron from Home Depot to fill it in. It had just enough iron in it blend it in where you couldn't really tell the next day.

I picked up a battery powered sprayer. Works much better than the pump. Can’t wait to use this technique with it. Great video.

Where are you getting your measurements per thousand square feet. My bottle of Sea-K doesn't say 0.2 oz per square feet
@GriffithLawnLabs7 ай бұрын
I pulled the application rates from here: yardmastery.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404809755031-What-are-the-application-rates-for-Greene-County-N-Ext-liquids. The rate listed there for Sea-K is 0.5 oz per gallon, and I was putting down 4 gallons. I always empty out my 4 gallon sprayer on my 10,000 sq ft area. Did I miss something, because getting it right is what matters! Thanks!
