Both “Less Than Zero”and “Play It As It Lays” have movies in case you’re interested 😊Try Didion’s “The Year of Magical Thinking” or “Blue Nights” for more bleakness. Eve Babitz is also similar to Didion but more cool girl LA vibes type. They both wrote very similar type of books and it still blows my mind they died the same week.

Hello fellow crazy!! Lolol. My therapist insists im not crazy but what does she know!!??? I also have the obsession shit. What a pain in the ass. I also disassociate - only way to be able to survive - and reading unhinged depressing stories of course!! A lot of ppl raved about shark heart so i did get it from botm or aardvark or whatever. I was happy when i saw that ur reading it. Now i can unhaul it! I do love reading shitty ppl who do shitty things. It a kind of validation and keeps me sane if that makes sense. Prolly not lolol. The best therapy ever is u Meg. U really do make an incredible difference in ur vlogs, being u is the best gift u can give us. I just wish there was a way we could help u! ❤

I relate to pretty much everything you say in this vlog. I read Less Than Zero and Acts Of Desperation and loved them both. I agree that there's a similarity between Bret Easton Ellis and Chandler Morrison, which is a good thing. I'll have to check out something by Joan Didion. This vlog was great, looking forward to the next one!

Dear Meg hi! Really enjoy your channel and love how you review these books! You say it like it is! I have bought books on your recommendations and they have been very good reads! Now it sounds like you have had some emotional turmoil? Why don't you read some original series Star Trek books! I just bought a big collection of then this past weekend. Read some like Spock's World and study Spock! Let your unruly emotions drain out of you. Replace them with Logic and Conjecture! You would then say...it is logical or illogical! Thinking like this will keep your emotions in check! I would be happy to share these Star Trek books with you! Keep up the good work! Ron

Less than Zero isn’t one of Bret’s best, if you ask me however I just finished his most recent book The Shards and it was phenomenal

the excellent thing about imperial bedrooms (less than zero sequel) is how meta and even more depraved it becomes. since there was a film released in the 80's starring robert downey jr and andrew mccarthy (as clay) after LTZ came out it comes to play for the book (tho you dont have to watch the film) and the audiobook is narrated by andrew mccarthy so it's so incredibly good and haunting . . . agree enjoy f*cked up ppl doing f*cked up things
