DLC2 was pretty fun. Quite substantial too. My suggestions:
-if you're looking for a challenge, then doing DLC2 before/without DLC1 is a good bit harder in my experience (the showdown with Jo in particular)
-Otherwise, if you have both DLC then I'd recommend doing DLC1 first because it's a good bit shorter, on the whole easier, and also because (as you can see) Angela just. Leaves your party after DLC2. In particular, not only is Angela gone, but you can't earn the enemy machine devil core things anymore (just the AZO points). Also any equipment you had on Angela/Sam is just gone afaik (in particular, the ideals cannot be rebought).
My own thoughts:
Huh that was cool. I didn't necessarily expect this game to venture outright into gay tragedy but on the whole I think the story of AW Emily works pretty well. I think Angela staying behind makes logical sense but it did feel a little sudden to me. Her grabbing the Sword of Fate though? That was honestly cool as hell and it makes sense to me given her character development over the course of the chapter.
Gameplay-wise, Jo is honestly a really cool boss fight. Easily the hardest one in the game on my first time through (I did not have DLC1 trinkets then, keep in mind). Having to keep on your toes and cycle through the board while also trying to keep track of who you can heal and when is quite fun (though the lightning mechanic didn't feel the most clearly communicated to me at first). It's almost a shame how quickly she dies with the boosted DLC1 trinket DPS really. I also just love how she slots in thematically as the climactic boss.
Orphan (for me at least) was more or less trivial in comparison (both with and without DLC1 trinkets). In some capacity I appreciate this because dying right after defeating Jo would have absolutely crushed my heart my first time through. Might not be a difficult fight but _it's cool as hell_, that's undeniable. Both conceptually and in execution, there's just a lot of cool factor in fighting Orphan (plus the buildup to that). Angela grabbing the Sword of Fate is, again, cool as hell (especially after 1-2 whole DLCs worth of not seeing the "I Will not Falter" animations). Speaking of, the music???????? It's a banger???????? It's also incredibly loud and I could barely pick out any words that were being sung but it fits and it rocks, hell yeah. I turned down the SFX solely so I could hear the song more clearly.
