The difference between original version Poseidons angry "no" and "die" where you can feel his anger and this version where she just says "die" completely casually like she's just snipping her finger is really cool. In the original Poseidon is angry, but still enjoying himself watching Odysseus struggle, in this version there is no anger, she knows that she could just kill him immediately but instead plays with him like a toy until she gets bored and is just like "ok, you die now".

The original one sounds genuinely mad, as if he's been so impatient to get his revenge. Meanwhile, this version seems more goddess-like. She's mad, but she keeps her composure. She makes him feel her wrath in a way that tells him that she's untouchable, that he really messed with a divine being. It's not exactly Poseidon.. but it's definitely the wrath of a goddess.

I like to think Hera and Demeter would be like this if you anger them. Poseidon and Zeus are like full on emotional. Demeter and Hera: angry but still do not forget they are gods, so need to make sure they are elegant and much more then mortals. Hestia and Hades: angry is the last choice for them, but they will give punishments that fit the crime.

nah its just a facade of 'oh i am so much more powerufl blah bla bla'. its ignoring poseidon's position and motivations entirely. this is VERY fucking presonal for poseidon. lesser son though it may have been, it was his son. a mighty immortal creature permenantly crippled by a mortal. he had been out of reach for a decade and now so close, he could strike.

@@taddad2641 I respect your opinion. I agree with your statement on Poseidon, and yes, it's personal towards him. But this is a cover of the song. It's not going to be 100% accurate. The original captures that personal motivation really well. This cover captures some of it, but the mood Lydia was going for was more of a controlled collected goddess, which she captures. In all honesty, you don't have to like this cover. I'm not saying you have to. I personally like both the original and this cover, but I see your point.

This short "die" and the almost "condecending tone implies that she finds the desperate offer almost amusing. as another commenter said: its not really Posiedon, but its definetly the wrath of a goddess

In the version I’m used to (not the original, I’ve been hearing a different female cover I believe), Poseidon is filled with rage and fury and is angry at Odysseus. But this feels like Poseidon is toying with Odysseus and is having fun with it. Beautiful cover!
