Really bummed the sequel got cancelled. Chaos Code is low key one of best fighting games of this gen and you can do some crazy shit in it. It has Roman Cancels and a universal install mechanic that gives you infinite meter.

Chaos Code pretty much feels like anime KOF to me. Especially picking between run or dash is like the Ultimate gauge on '98. And the infinite meter is like the Extra gauge.

I know this has been said again and again, but THAT INTRO MY GOD, is just beautiful, perfect, nostalgic and hype at the same time, all the while showcasing a tone of games. I love it, probably my favorite intro in youtube right now

I don't remember how I first discovered the series, might have been through the former SBFP FNF series in fact, but I remember how I got into it. I randomly brought it up one day as a friend was going through the PSN store and he ended up immediately buying it as a result. We both enjoyed playing against each other in it for a while but ended up moving on shortly after. Though it was through the announcement of the sequel, "Chaos Code: Next Episode Xtreme Tempest" (aka "Chaos Code: NEXT"), in December of 2017 that got me heavily re-interested in the series, with a second trailer in January of 2018. Despite 2 years of waiting with no news whatsoever, I still was looking forward to it. And that long wait finally paid off with a new trailer in January of 2020 with so much excitement...and then subsequent sadness at the news of its cancellation not even a week after due to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding FK Digital, the developer. To show support, I went out and finally bought the digital-only PS4 version, which is a rarity for me, and have plans to get the Stream version as well. It's currently one of three fighting games I'm really into at the moment, spending hours labbing and even watching random Japanese arcade footage, finally actually learning the intricacies of the characters and mechanics. I'm trash at the game but I'm trying. I still cling to the hope that FK Digital one day manages to rise back up and finish "Chaos Code: NEXT" to release into the world but I'm fine if that doesn't happen. I'm just glad that the "Chaos Code" that we got is already such a fun game.

Honestly this game is the best starter fighting due learning chain combos, honest neutral game and easier to pick up multiple characters. It a shame the online is pretty dead.
