Usually, the "AmyDarleyEffect" is me watching you and then charging off to get some procrastinated projects started. Today, I started off with my trainer and upon returning home, straightened up the workbench in the garage, weeded the front yard flower beds, trimmed and thinned hydrangeas in the back yard, took a shower, started the long-awaited closet cleanout/reorganization, and sat down for my lunch at 2:30. AT WHICH TIME I opened KZbin and found this video was up. So, I must have anticipated the "AmyDarleyEffect" without realizing it. It's always fun and inspirational to watch you work, lady. :)

You work very hard for your family. And for us making these videos. Thank you! Sometimes our efforts to plan summer fun feel unappreciated, but my adult kids commented the other day that they loved the summer memories we had. (I am a teacher.). We did a birthday "party" every other year for our kids once they were in elementary. The years that we didn't host a larger birthday party, we would take 1-2 friends out to dinner or an activity like mini golf. Each child and family are different, so just do what works best for your situation. Happy summer! And don't feel like it's a countdown with just a few left since your son is now a teenager. We just finished a beach trip with our adult kids and had a blast! It's nice when they can pack themselves and buy their own souvenirs. LOL

It's a little relief when it's an easy pickup around the house😂. We have a 14 year old boy and a 10 year old girl. We usually do a birthday party, we let the kids choose the activity whether it's at the house or some place. IF the want friends to spend the night , they can only choose 2 friends. We did 5 one year and that was chaos 😂. Then we do family dinner with close family. Kids get to pick what the theme is for dinner. I know it may sound a bit much, but I love celebrating birthdays ❤!!

Happy 13th birthday to your son! 🎉 Sounds like he had a great day! 🌼 I gave them the choice of going to a restaurant or having their favorite homemade meal, gifts and b-day dessert for their b-day’s 🌼 It’s sad how kids feel better about themselves when they make fun of other kids-it’s sad as those kids that take the time to make fun of other kids are ones that don’t get the attention they need from their parents and know how to be genuine and nice and find these ways to try to get attention in a bad way. 😢 I feel your parents raised you well, as you’re such the sweetest and kindest person with such a gracious soul 🌼

When my kids were growing up, we would have sleepovers and would have water slides, down the hill, the kids loved it. We had "Fear Factor" one year, which was hilarious! Hi Amy, you are one amazing person that I enjoy watching so much. You are great at getting stuff done, and I need to work on my time management. I know it's hard for me with limited mobility, and that's why I need my house to be more decluttered and easy to maintain and be functional. My grandsons are getting their core lists now that they've had a little time off since school got out. I always give them a break since they need and deserve it from a long school year. Thank you for always being so modest with your clothing choices. PS, next time you have a wrinkle item, toss in a slightly dampen sock or washcloth into the dryer with the item on high for five to ten minutes. The dampens from the small item will pull out the wrinkles in the item you need unwrinkled.

Hello beautiful Amy, how are you?. It's so good to be here once again. Absolutely, I love summer so I could do more. I love the longer daylight. God is good all the time. As I might have mentioned, I am a staying home wife. I maintain cleaning my home so I don't get overwhelmed. Since I have more time, I started going to Bible studies on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday.Our church is opened seven days. We leave for vacation next Friday! I can't wait! We are from Ohio and go to Fripp Island every year. This will be our 9th summer vacationing there. I come from a huge family (7 siblings) so we all go together. There are usually around 30 of us total that make the trek. But NO, we do not all stay in the same unit lol! My husband, kids and I get our own unit. We did go into Savannah one year just to sight see. It's beautiful there!

My son is 9 and we’ve done a big party at his Taekwondo studio the past 2 years. It’s simple, fun, and inexpensive! This year I think he might want to do an arcade/laser tag type thing. I did a party at my house for 12 and 13, then a small fancy dinner out for my sweet 16, and my friends threw me a big dinner party out for my 18th!

For my daughter’s 13th, we went to a local hotel and did a spend-the-night. It was so much fun! We got 2 rooms, she brought 3 friends. It was beside a mall, so they went shopping and to dinner. Then, back to hotel to swim, eat snacks, and watched movies.

My middle is 23 and not a social person and hated birthday parties so none for her. My youngest is 17 and is a good mix of both. I always love coming home from vacation to a clean home so i will definitely be doing a get it all done on saturday before we fly out early sunday morning. as for birthdays, I do not have a party every year. i have a 13(D),11(D) and 9(S) yo and between the three of them....i've had a total of 7 parties. i pick and choose favorite years...or big ones. We celebrated these ages for each kid. oldest daughter was ages: 1, 7, 10 and 13. my middle daughter: 7, 10 and my son: 8 and his next one will be his 10th. We are deep into baby step 6 with DRamsey so my kids know and understand and are very excited to get our home paid off by 2027 so we are temporarily making good decisions where we can. to have this goal and have the kids excited and willing to also help is soo exciting for our family! :) we still go out to eat for every birthday and cake but as far as full on parties, those are selective. tfs!!🙂

Growing up, we mostly had a party every 5 years; so 5, 10, and 15. But other years, we would get to puck what we wanted for dinner and dessert as a family. Our girls have had one almost every year; sometimes only a couple girls, so not always big. Sometimes we've done a big party, a sleepover, a family trip, and a couple times we did a double birthday, as our girls' birthdays are 1 month apart.

Hey, Amy! Thank you for another great video, and Happy Birthday Caycen! We typically just chill in the summer after baseball/softball is over (we're usually run down so we need it, haha) and just do little fun things close by or in our state throughout the remainder of the summer. Sometimes we go out of state, but rarely...We did yearly parties for our kids, but once they hit 10, and kind of with our 3rd child, we've slowed down or stopped parties and just have family dinner or maybe 1 or 2 friends over a night...Have you heard of Tara Leigh Cobble? My kids are 11 and 8. My daughter is 11 will be 12 on Aug 8th and my son is 8 and will be 9 on July 22nd. Their birthdays are 2 weeks apart from each other. My husband and I have always had separate birthdays parties for them except for one year we did a joint party at the pool for them. Friends of ours say we should just keep doing joint parties since they are close together, but we don't usually do that. We did big birthday parties almost every year for our kids since they were 1, until we realized that it wasn't in the budget to keep up with that. We then started trading off every year one kid got a big party and then the next year the other kid got a big party. We are at the point where we are at a loss of what to do for birthday parties and both kids are wanting something big, but we can't keep doing that every year. I think we might start doing parties like what my husband and I grew up doing and just having family over for dinner and cake and celebrate them that way or maybe having a friend of theirs over with all of that. My daughter wants to do a sleepover and we may do that because she's never had one for her birthday, but we don't know what we will do for my son. For us, my daughter has a couple close friends so she may just do something small with them every year which we would be fine with. Our son has ADHD and struggles having friendships due to lacking proper social interactions with people. He doesn't care about having friends over, he just wants to be around family and have a fun time so we may just see what each year brings for our kids and what seems best for them. Well, I think I can tell you this. It's fine to have a 13th, birthday and a 16th birthday because after it seemed like I was 16 birthdays. Kind of stopped. It was just me and my mom and we go eat. But I'm the only child and I never had children but if I would've, I would always made sure up to 16 that they had what they kind of wanted.❤❤❤
