Show the back butter every time to drive the point. Burn in wall trowel wall , burn in tile, set, I like the spacer techniques if you use u spacers. You are showing how the industry should work. Great job!

You are supposed to leave at least 1/16 gap above surface to your first course of tile , this allows the silicone to be embedded in the joint . Otherwise it’s just a bead no the surface which will pull away and start peeling over time …. Look it up in TCNA handbook

The orange backer he has on is the waterproofing. You can also use cement board & redguard.

How much would you charge for a 200SF tile job with this exact tile?

I would calculate using the hourly wage you need and add in at least 1/3 extra time plus overhead (Depreciating equipment, Insurance, Ofc, Staff & business reps like Tax/Accountant/Lawyer for mechanical liens). If your just starting out this will be lower of course, like writing your business name # in shoe polish on your truck window startup. Always always do an LLC to limit damages lawyers can’t protect you from. To err is human, but lets not die in the process ✌️

It's self leveling. As long as whatever it's attached to or sitting on is within about 4° of horizontal, it will self level.
