Sometimes people mistake them for devil worshippers when they see the opening, so let me explain. First of all, even in the Japanese metal scene, "white" is a color that is shunned, and despite the danger of isolation, they dared to choose a white feminine stage costume, saying that they did not care if they were treated as lone wolves, and made the wolf the symbol of the band. Then there is the "pentagram," a symbol that has existed throughout the world since ancient times and has been used as a talisman. In Japan, it is also known as the "Seimei crest" because it was used as a family crest by the yin-yang master Abe no Seimei, who was available to the Imperial Court about 1,000 years ago. The pentagram alludes to their third full-length album, "Electric Pentagram," which was released a month before this concert, and the songs performed at this concert were mainly from this album.

This show from February 21st, 2020, (4.5 years ago) is still the base of most live videos. It has fantastic quality. Then came Covid-19. "Heavy Metal Never Dies" (March 26th, 2021) was under extreme restrictions (no clapping, shouting, etc.) and Miyako was 4 to 5 months into pregnancy, still a great concert, some epic performances from that concert as well (Shadowmaker, A Frozen Serenade, Set The World On Fire, Holy War with a longer belt than 2020, etc.). Then founding bassist Miho left the band, so the next mentionable (double) concert is from March 11th/12th, 2023, "Knockin' At Heaven's Gate 1+2" with new bassist Fami. They also had a new LP "Judgement Day", so they went on Japanese tour, and the September 24th performance was recorded as "Memorial For The Warrior Souls", being released, wait for it, on August 28th, 2024, and live streamed on this Monday (August 12th, watch their channel!). Also on August 28th, the new EP with 5 songs, first one already has an OMV "Unchained", second OMV "Soul Defender" will be shown on Monday! There's also a re-recording of their debut EP, but I don't want to confuse you with facts! (too late!)

The pentagram is surrounded by a wolf representing the five girls. In Japan, the five elements of yin and yang, which became the basic concept of Yin-Yang Tao, or the five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, expressed their conflicting functions, and the pentagram was valued as a talisman to ward off all kinds of evil. Thus, the pentagram represents the protection of these women.

You are absolutely right, this was the infamous opening of that concert ("Five Of A Kind") on February 21st, 2020, at Zepp Diver City, Tokyo. They've used the uniforms only for this first song, understandably. Absolutely fantastic concert. At the same time, they've released their third LP "Electric Pentagram", what explains the symbol. The five wolfs in their specific color unite at the beginning. (Fun fact: Midori - the Amazone like guitarist - has green, the Japanese word for green is 緑 - midori).

Haruna symbolizes what I want for the world. No matter who you are, and even if you're going against what most consider "proper", if you have a passion for it, DO IT. She's a tiny Japanese young woman, very delicate, cute and good hearted. And yet, she's one of the best Metal drummers this generation. She always give 110%. AND with a smile on her face. The whole band gave extra life to this grumpy, incredulous metalhead. I'm forever grateful to Lovebites to give me a glimpse of Valhalla when my time is over. GLORY TO LOVEBITES🤘🐺🤘

Yes, concert opener. Those are more like jackets over the dresses. You've already seen the 2nd song (Holy War) so you know they didn't last long. Think the ladies didn't care for them anyway. Those were also the first 2 tracks on the , at the time brand new, 3rd album, Electric Pentagram. Yeah, Haruna in like a machine, just a beast back there behind the kit. And keeps it up for hour and a half to 2 hour shows. Yes she's short, about 4'9" or 145 cm. Miyako is the tallest at 5'2" or 158 cm. The newest live videos are "We Are the Resurrection" and "Rising' from the Memorial For the Warrior's Soul DVD, filmed last Sep. There you will also meet new bassist Fami, original bassist Miho, and band co founder ,left in 2021

All the Lovebites albums has a wolf featured on the cover, known as the "Lone Wolf of Heavy Metal" playing more of a traditional 80s heavy metal style but with a modern fresh sound, going against the grain so to speak. I have never heard why they wear the “marching band” uniforms. They only keep it on for one song. I’ve heard other people call them Sgt. Pepper jackets. Great song, and as is so often the case, Haruna is my favorite part of it. The wah solo building toward the end along with the other instruments is sweet, too. When you ask about whether they’ve grown or not, that depends on who you ask. There’s some fans who are happy to get more of the same, and there’s some of us who wish LB would start taking chances with their sound or give us something different and more interesting. I’m in the latter camp.
