I interpret that maxim differently, 'If you can't tie knots tie lots.' Sounds like he's advising practice to me 👍

I really appreciate your showing both left and right hand techniques. Locking off the jam knot is a better technique than I learned.

Neil, this was one of the best assortments of knots and instruction I have seen on KZbin. Thanks for the excellent video. The knot I get the most creative with is the Jamb Knot. I use it as a adjustable cinch for stuff sacks, make-shift compression bags, a temporary binding for bi-pods & tripods, securing items to back pack straps, and on and on. I think an other useful and easy knot for the outdoorsman is the taught line hitch.

The most frustrating thing about learning knots is that they all have different names from region to region :)

Well this heres a sheep hitch.. no, that's a larkshead mate, na na na, its a locking split hitch... Etc lol, way I see it has always been find what works and call it what you want, it still works :-) Although the technical proper name there is the Border region non-Cloval bindwrap post hitch obviously.

The sheet bend should be tied such that the tails of both ropes end up on the same side. This is according to the Wikipedia article on the sheet bend.

It's something I have noticed, us lefties can watch something being done right handed and swap, but right handed folks struggle the other way around.

Hi mate hope you're keeping well! Love the channel, stumbled across it recently and honestly mate you've got a real treasure trove of knowledge! Hoping to expand my own bushcraft skills this year and get back out in amongst it more. Silly question but where'd you get the orange para cord from? Been using the green for ages and it blends in a bit too much when trying to do some fidddly knots out in the woods lol. Stick in and cheers again for the awesome channel!

That restrictor knott looks like a clove hitch.... Looks like you pass it under the standing end to finish....
@shastaham7630
@shastaham7630 3 жыл бұрын
True. They are very similar. The one disadvantage of the clove hitch is that it can loosen under vibration or varying tension. By bringing the working end around the standing end after the second wrap and then passing the working end under the crossed cords, the knot, once tightened will not loosen. a disadvantage of the constrict or knot can be that it is almost impossible to loosen (also it's greatest advantage). Regardless, it is never a bad idea to finish off with an overhand knot tied into the working end and dressed down tightly against the constrict or knot.
