Damn you really brought some new energy to this song! I think the only thing i would suggest is that you cut out the guitar part right as the vocals come in in the first verse. I think it would definitly give some suspense for the chorus and some relief from the building of the loop. Excelent job all over though! Makes me want to cover it too.

So funny you should mention that. In these vids I'm still getting my head around both pedals, nearly 2 years ago now. One big issue I have always battled with when live looping, is creating dynamics. Light and shade. Builds and falls. I'm much more proficient with my advanced looping now and always thinking about how to better the "show" without perpetuating the problem with the same 30 cleche songs being overplayed by musos everywhere! Leaving till the chorus a bass-line/snare/a second guitar part or adding vocal harmonies etc etc. Cheers mate

It's been a while, I don't use the GR55 anymore, opting for a midi keyboard now. Along with the common issues with the GR55, people just didn't "get it". Where are the trumpets coming from? LOL In this clip I go from piezo into a Boss Giga Delay - Tuner (used also to mute when only wanting Gr55) - RC300 - DI - Desk. Then GK3 - GR55 - RC300. Mic - Home made AB switch RC300/Desk. Home made drum triggers on guitar - Roland TD9 brain - RC300. Best of luck with it

Hey Dan i have to say an incredible version of the song. I have a few questions. I have a voicelive 3 extreme and i use it for looping etc but recently have found myself short of a loop channel as you can only use 2 at a time, so hence i have ordered the RC300 and am about to look at getting the GR55. In your opinion do you feel its a great combo. I use a small Martin LX1E like your cort. Love the acoustic sound i get but i have been looking into this module for a while and feel i could use the brass and piano etc. However my main issue is looping drums. I suck badly at beatboxing and i saw you had almost like two pads on the side of your guitar that you create a rhythm sound with. May i ask what that is and i was also looking at adding a HPD20 hand sonic to my gear line up. You see i am a one man band and do a lot of international sort of work as a solo artist. But lately the guys are wanting loop artists more and more and so have changed from tracks to looping and am loving it. Any advise would be great. Just love your work. Thank you

God, where do I start... RC300 is the best large format looper on the market but it's not without bugs and issues. The GR55 sounds are amazing but again, massive issues with triggering and latency, which does my head in. The home-made pads on my guitar trigger a Roland TD9. I now gig with the looper, some guitar fx and an ipad with Sampletank and a midi keyboard. Hope you're enjoying the new gear

I know, I know! I'm a bit overweight and self conscious about it, hence no current vids. I'm now looping with the Rc300, some guitar fx and a Roland Integra 7 sound module and mini keyboard (novation Impluse 25)

Are you using the GR-55 for simulated bass? Asking as I tried a Boss OC-3 with not-so-great results.
@danmillane6 жыл бұрын
The Boss OC3 is awesome! Used one for many years. Make sure you only use "POLY" mode and adjust your knobs to desired string coverage and bass/octave. I think the third knob controls how much the octave works over the bottom strings. The more you turn to the right, you'll go from the bottom E string, to the A then to the D etc etc. In my experience I just had it working over the E and A. The second knob in gives you how much octave/bass and the first knob gives you the original signal, which is important to have included with the octave imo! Try left to right - 3 o'clock, 9-12 o'clock, 11 o'clock and Poly settings. Yes the GR55 has the most astounding bass sims. I'm selling it atm, though. I'm now using a mini keyboard to do these sounds in my loops and a Sub n Up octave from TC Electronics. Best of luck
