I think one of my favorite things about the SCP universe is baring a few SCP and tales the vast majority of SCP's are all set in different canons/universes. There is no canon.

In regards to new vs old SCPs' differences, I think there is a pretty simple explanation: quantity. There are thousands of different SCPs at this point, so inevitably, as the more "grounded" or "simple" ideas are taken up, people have to be more creative and outlandish if they want to create something unique enough that it has its own identity in a sea of thousands of other creations.

I recommend reacting to one of Tats TopVideos video on scary SCP as they have atmosphere, a good VA, and self made 3D animation to go along with the SCP description

The artist of “Untitled 2004” didn’t sue the SCP community he just didn’t like that his art was related to it. So the SCP wiki mods decided to remove “Untitled 2004” from the wiki out of respect to the artist and just in case of legal trouble down the line.

I had a liminal dream once. It was about a Mall a never ending perpetual clean new Mall. Well lit, always provides tasty food and comfortable. It was comparable to a puzzle game. Antichamber is a good reference.

The damn thing tried to crawl back into her body the way babies come out. @49:35 In the original file it was stated that "While attempting to contain SCP-1048-C Dr. Carver witnessed the deaths of mutliple personnel as SCP-1048-C appeared to 'jump through them'." or something like that.

I can't relate to the light stair thing, I spend most of the time in my house with the lights off by default. I rarely ever turn my lights on, I enjoy the darkness.

Yes, the earlier SCP's are more grounded & simple but that's because they were made early...Later entries had to be more complex & more creative because most of the simple ideas were already taken. However, the earlier SCP's have a substantial amount of lore built up around them & even some of the later SCP's utilize or link with their own lore back to earlier entries. Such as when 682 was met with 053 (Small Girl), and when they tried to destroy 682 with 173 (The Statue), & 096 (The Shy Guy). Narrator, during the section about SCP-096: "...however, when someone views SCP-096's face, whether it be direct, via a video recording, or even photograph..." Has anyone noticed that during the entire presentation for 096 that we were being shown a photograph? Okay, time to lay down your bets as to the sequential order that we're all going to die? My first bet would go to Makari, since she saw the photo herself before she uploaded the video... Well, if you're still alive to read this Makari, it seemed that you liked 096 (The Shy Guy). I ran a search on your channel here but couldn't find your reaction to Mr.Klay's "096, A Short Film." It's nearly 25 minutes long but well worth the viewing. But no, you can relax a bit; they won't show you its face in that one... 😉

It's funny, if scp story's continued to stay the same as it was before then you'd be sitting there, talking about how bland and repetitive it all was. everything evolves and changes, it's not that people are making it grand or over the top, it's just that storys have been told and something new has to be made. Some of the recent scp stories are simple concepts and same are world changing, but that has been and always will be the point of scps

See, Series I, the OGs, were usually based around or on the creepypastas that were popular back then, almost 15 years ago. So they were simple yet effective. That is not to say that they haven't had additions or been edited since. One good example is SCP-093 which went from a disc that was only dangerous because it gained infinite momentum when it was removed from its mirror and it sought to "join" another mirror to an interdimentional key that responds differently to whomever puts it back on a mirror. Another one that got changed was...I forget the number but it used to be called "Just a Teenage Succubus" and it got replaced with "Just a Teenage Gaia" and all references to sexual appetites were removed from the file, which I am perfectly okay with, to be honest, but I kinda wonder if the og author made the changes or if they got implemented after the author had left the site...
