On these aviation videos I always love the forward looking shots on approach when it still is a a small distance to the airport and trying to see where the runway is in the distance. Sometimes it jumps out and then other times you just don't see it until you are right there. Understand with the naked eye you can locate the runway pretty quick from the pilots view vs a camera mounted in the cockpit. Enjoy the in flight low altitude video especially on approach.
@CorporatePilotLife5 жыл бұрын
Yeah...it is much easier in person vs the camera view

Shaun, I grew up in NJ, lived there until july 2013, now in Ferndale,WA. WE were only 10 miles from Lakehurst Naval Air STation and McGuire AFB Lots of activities and airshows around the giant hanger that hosted the HIndenburgh Dirigidle. Never knew Trenton had an airport but not surprised. There were a few incidents at Newark in the late forties and fifties and I remember there was a Teterboro Tower "Folksong", but I don't know the lyrics. Jersey is crowded central and north but the south and the pine barrens are quiet and low population. Thanks for the nostalgia, Cheers, Rik Spector

Great Video! What is the longest you have ever sat on the run way for a delay? Is there a rule as to how close you can get to another plane when waiting in line?
@CorporatePilotLife5 жыл бұрын
I've never timed my wait on the runway, but I would say I've waited over minute...probably two. It's always nerve racking when that happens. As for the minimum distance, I've never heard a limit on that one. With experience, we get a feel for how close is too close.

@CorporatePilotLife5 жыл бұрын
I see quite a bit of each side, but it's often easier to record when I'm in the right seat. We typically swap seats each day, but some pilots are restricted to the right seat only until they gain the minimum experience to fly from the left seat.

Why leave the apu running on take off?
@CorporatePilotLife5 жыл бұрын
The Hawker is required to takeoff and land with the engine bleed air turned off, so we use the APU to provide pressurization, heating, air conditioning, etc. on takeoff and landing.

Why have you now started to say the the 1 in 128,6 and not as with PDR 69 as 286? Great vlog as always!
@CorporatePilotLife5 жыл бұрын
It's going to sound silly, but the Gulfstream radio will accept "286" as the input for 128.6. The Hawker requires "1286" to be entered or it gives an error message. If I only say "286" then that's what I tend to type, but if I say "128.6" then that's what I type.
