🎵Barry Harris is the man when it comes to pivoting. I'm not sure if he coined the term or whether he was the first to talk about arpeggios in this way, but it sure is something you want to have in your practice locker. How you practice arpeggios is super important if you want to extract the maximum music from them. I recently made a video on how there are 24 different combinations of playing 1357, this video is a follow up to that one in many regards. in today's lesson I cover the topic of pivoting on arpeggios. Pivoting is essentially changing octave to get the rest of the arpeggio. It makes your arpeggios sound fresh and can lead to much more interesting lines.
The lesson explains:
🔴 What a pivot is and how to apply the idea to an arpeggio
🔴 Some of the different ways to pivot
🔴 How to think about this kind of approach eg intervals rather than fret numbers
