My dad has always grown big gardens and when I was little, he convinced me that the potatoes would run back into the ground if I didn’t catch them. He would tell me to get ready and then he would flip the dirt over to expose the potatoes and I would literally dive to “catch” the potatoes😂 He would be gassing me up the whole time too like “Get ‘em! Don’t let ‘em get away!”🤣

If I could throw in a quick tip: don't be discouraged if some or all of your potatoes don't flower. Some years they do, some years they don't, depending on the type of person you are growing and how the weather has been that year. Whether they flower or not, you'll still get a good harvest. But if you are a little concerned, give the potatoes a little extra phosphorus fertilizing in whatever form you prefer.

Huh, I'll have to try pruning the berries next year and see if I get any change in results. As to the yellowing leaves and stems, I've left them to be eaten away by the bugs before digging. Technically not supposed to, but it makes the cleanup practically nonexistent, and the potatoes have been harvested just fine. I am curious as to what I can do to help them grow tall and straight though. For some reason, they've been growing more like curled vines along the ground for the last 3 years, and they didn't before.
