So more good make things grow bigger? You GOTTA be kidding me! (Note: that will obviously only hold true to the point where nutrient burning or lock out occurs)

I watched 15 seconds... I'm guessing it's dependent on the seed type? And maybe best to just read the package and go with the producers recommendations, as the success rate will be directly proportional to ppl repurchasing? But I'm just using logic, it MAY lead me astray... I'll watch and find out...

Tomatoes do not like fast N. It makes them susceptible to blight and will keep the fruit from ripening. You have to increase P if anything. Steady moisture in more important than N. Using a live soil to break down trace minerals for vigorous growth. Peppers are even more particular about temperature and air/drainage in the soil.

I think my compost experience also proves that tomatoes and squash can be quite deep and still sprout. Also, both tomatoes and squash will sprout inside of the fruit.

I’ve had double the size cayenne plants grow in top soil. But the results don’t lie. Compost and fertilizer for bigger yields!

It helps to clean the seeds. The gelatinous coating around the seed inhibits germination.

Enjoyed your video, with no doubt that you’re Canadian, as you are hopping fluently between metric and Imperial measurements without even thinking.

lettuce requires light to germinate. What light regime did you have them in?
@nancygreen818219 сағат бұрын
The concern isn't germination, but instead, it's what about the produce you get. Modern grocery store produce is often f1 hybrid and does not produce the exact same as the parent plant. Size, taste and quality are typically inferior to parent plant.
@suzanwood86820 сағат бұрын
Why on earth would you use seeds from the grocery store. Those are the worst tomatoes on the planet.
@curtiswiseman317820 сағат бұрын
Is this a store-bought squash? If so, it’s unlikely they’re heirloom. I would like to see the harvest from this experiment before passing judgement.

Ive literally dug up seeds that had germinated several inches under soil. Tomatoes for one. Also had passionfruit grow despite having given up on them and reused composted and mixed their soil up for other plants

But is it seed stable? Will you get the same plant from the seed?
@kyivstuff21 сағат бұрын
Don’t squashes inter-pollinate between each other? So even if it grows into one kind of squash, its seeds will have the intermixed genetic material, so you won’t know what you’ll be growing from those seeds.
@Windowsinthewater21 сағат бұрын
Do the plants you grow from the grocery store actually produce fruit & vegetables? I've tried growing them before and I may get beautiful thriving plants but they never tired any food. I buy organic too but I think they may treat them somehow to prevent us using the seeds 🤷♀️Maybe they were hybrids?
@vickisavage892922 сағат бұрын
Germination is one thing, harvest is something else; the harvest depends on the genetics of the plants, and too many crops (IMO) are either hybrid or genetically modified. I would start with a known variety and pay for good seeds once.
@bakkerarjen22 сағат бұрын
The big question is will you get the good squash out of the plant? Probably it’s a F1 plant…
@ql2ku21 сағат бұрын
I did this one year. The first year i got an amazing harvest growing seeds from store bought squash. I got 14 large squash on one plant. Ive always had luck with squash seeds. The only thing to look for if you ever get a bitter squash throw the whole plant its toxic. There will be no question if its bitter,.it will be unpalatable. Ive never encountered this myself, but it is a "risk" using saved squash seeds.

I buy the type of tomatoe I want to grow. Squeeze out the seeds,eat the tomatoe, try to spread the seeds out,cover with a little dirt, water and wait. I think i get about 100% germination. Every year I have so many i put them out on the sidewalk for free.

I enjoy your channel. Just subscribed. I quit KZbin when i tried writing a business plan, because my mission was selfish and it made me feel yucky. Have you made a business plan? You seem to have some kind of mission, but it is a bit vague. Writing a business plan might help you focus on what your vision really is. Maybe a full plan isnt necessary. For me it was just the intro that enlightened me. A mission has to be focused and one that is quantifiable is best. What is your mission?

Try chilling the lettuce seeds over night in your fridge first. I've had to do that several times to get them to do their thing. Also on top on the soil or with a very thin layer covering them and use glow lights to get them to germinate. The guy from No-Till Growers Podcast did a video showing how he does lettuce. He does up a tray of seeds and puts them over night into the fridge and then the next day under grow lights or into his greenhouse.
