I really love this kind of videos where you just prompt us to hit pause and do our own thing in several chunks, I feel like it's super actionable and there's 0% excuses to not sit down and be real with yourself. Thank you so much for sharing your vulnerability, for always striving to be as authentic as possible and showing the "not so aesthetic" bits. I've been following the self-development side of youtube for a long time and I'm honestly really glad to find more and more sustainable productivity channels over time, ditching the "hustle 'n bustle" culture I've come to despise so much. You're an inspiration, Jade, and your passion for learning and living to the fullest (but also slowly and in touch with yourself) is quite contagious. 💌💌💌

I love you jade /pl Your videos are changing my mindset and I know it will mean so much to my future and my present. This week I have so much work and I’ve just been avoiding it because I’m scared of putting time into it, incase it will fail. I often find it difficult because I think I’m not made for learning, or that I can’t succeed because I have already failed. I know this is not the mindset I want, and I’m trying to get there. This video really helped, as do all of your videos. Thank you for sharing your tip, your beautiful personality and mindset, and most of all the reflections on academic difficulties.

Pearson, and just a few other education companies, really have a monopoly on textbooks, and all things educational. I hated having to buy not only a textbook but also a separate access code just to be able to complete homework online on a glitchy software. Textbooks are always being "updated", which really means moving around a few sections, and then students are expected to pay for a brand new edition.

I got into home school because of mental circumstances and i’ve been stuck in this exact same cycle :,( but i decided to reach out to my teacher and ask if i could get my due date for my english class extended so that i could make up for the lack of effort i’ve shown. it’s exactly that. feeling too unmotivated or tired to do work, it piles up to the point where i get overwhelmed, then i just feel guilty for not being on track and being a failure to myself. but i know that i am smart, i may not be the most intelligent but i can work towards that. i don’t like to feel rushed into learning, i like to take my time to fully absorb and store the knowledge that i learn so that it can stick with me. ❤

What you said is right. When I wanted to make a career switch to data science, I had some amount with me saved which I used to buy a good text book after research, physical white board, table lamp, yellow note pad, a personal diary for study, an iPad which I got at an offer price and keyboard. Yes, I achieved then and became what I wanted. Definitely good resources and right resources will help us to focus and study more at any age.

note to self: summary + personal notes: the insidious loop of burnout: unmotivated to work -> getting behind on work -> feeling guilty about being behind on work -> unmotivated to work. tip 1: ensure you have good revision resources and the tools that you need. e.g. knowing how to acces your lectures. just gather all the things you need during the study session, so you don't get overwhelmed, when you're missing stuff during studying -> making you distracted. tip 2: before you catch up with your work, diagnose why you're unmotivated to work. why are we in a slump, why don't we want to work? journal about it! you can't solve what you don't understand. "why am i so unmotivated to do x?" -> braindump. possible answers: tired, not interested in the topic, interested in other stuff i'd rather learn, distracted bcs of excitement for other things (like a trip). some factors: A) learnt helplessness = we didn't do well on task x one time, and we convinced ourselves we're helpless, that no amount of effort can get us the results we want -> we're doomed anyway, so why try? --> this is a bad mindset, replace it with a growth mindset: i might suck at things, but i can get better. i am not good at it YET, but i am worthy of achieving great things, i am allowed to try. B) difficult circumstances / mental health. it's okay to be in a rut/burnout. life is not just school and work. sometimes we go through difficult times, that's human and okay. recommended: get help, e.g. the resources that your school provides (school therapists etc) BE KIND TO YOURSELF!! be understanding, don't force yourself, don't hate yourself, don't blame yourself. C) laziness and enjoying life. = basically: "i am capable of getting my schoolwork done, but there are other fun things in life, so i'm choosing to prioritize the fun instead of the productivity." (no idea how to solve this one lol, laziness is hard to get over, but we can do this) tip 3: do i actually need to do the work or am i pressured into doing it? hustle culture: work hard to achieve what you want. but people neglect rest. you don't need to be hustling all the time, sometimes you can just enjoy your life, be a bit behind on your work schedule. acknowlegde that life isn't just hard work 24/7. A) write down everything you need to catch up on. the things you need to catch up on = priority. you can't learn new things/do new tasks if you're in work debt. people tend to just go straight into the new work, neglecting the work they still have to catch up on. feels bad, does not help hopelessness. WRITE BIG TO DO LIST -> dont just look at it and feel overwhelmed -> convert it into SMALL ACTIONNABLE TASKS -> put these tasks in agenda/calendar, put reminders ("hey, you need to do this task rn") -> can help you get on track without too much overthinking. tip 4: do the work. change of scenery helps!! cafe, library... get in the mindset of "i am at this place bcs i need to get this task done". when you're at home, where you're comfortable, and where it's an environment where you can chill, your body can read wrong signals ("i am comfy here, so i can procrastinate here"). change of scenery can give your body the signal that you're not at your usual comfy zone, it's a different place, and you went to a different place with a purpose. clear your head now and then: exercise, meditation!! it's easy to neglect them, but they play a big part in our mental health, and thus play a big part in getting back on track in life. i feel so motivated after watching this video haha thank you Jade!!!!!
