Hi John i loved the way the chipping worked out ! Simple technique but very effective ! I've built six tanks models all pre railroad club and I'm going to pull one out and chip it using this technique. Enjoyed the video , always good to see old friends. Looking forward to the next video.

Enjoyed watching your video thank you for sharing your work . I've built both this and the Six Day war Israeli Centurion and added some extra bits 'n' pieces for the purposes of the diorama(s). AFV kits can be mildly annoying and their instruction sheets can test your patience , but they do build into very nice models. I used lacquer paint for both kits I built and applied satin & gloss varnish to protect and to seal the decals/paint prior to weathering.

Bought a Tasca Sherman for $10 at a nice hobby shop. Great deal as these kits usually run for about $45 to $75+, although it was partially assembled, with some errors. Went to work right away on it to fix the problems. These tasca/Asuka shermans are in my opinion finely engineered, easy to assemble, accurately detailed, and the best Sherman kits on the market, but I digress; You did a great job on that Centurion. Afv club kits can be a little tedious at times, but they are nice once completed! We'll done sir!😃👍👍👍

Thanks very much! I had looked at this kit a couple of times and had sold one a few years back. This one was actually a pleasure to build, and I have another one in the stash. Again - my thanks for watching!

We always snap Asuka, Tasca kits up at shows if seen lol they have reissued some of there older kit's this year with new box art I think there is a couple of new one's too! Hopefully we got some model shows this year the Tank museum has bought up the majority of Asukas stock on shermans lol

Nice work on a pre owned model. I know you acquired the model with it partly constructed but they also put the tail/exhaust pipe on wrong. Its vertical when it should be horizontal facing out. Those side plates was a devil of a job to get off, 3 man job, and did take some knocks and bangs when in the field. The tracks where tensioned to have very little sag, approx. 1.5 inch in the centre, unlike what you see on the WWII German Tanks. I'm ex Gunner/Driver, British, of a Centurion 1968 - 70 with the L7A1 105mm gun. We also had the Browning .50 as a ranging gun and the Browning .30 as a co-ax machine gun. We then went onto Chieftains with the L11A5 120mm gun, .50 ranging which was later removed for more up-to-date methods and a .76 co-ax machinegun. The Chieftain was let down by its mechanics but it main armament was very good and accurate. . I have just purchased this kit as its the only one with a reasonable price that I can relate to. I think my last Cent was a Mk XIII but the grey matter is now lacking in some of the details. Its also nice to see the ManU sign on your wall, Matt Busby Way, I live in Greater Manchester with many local ManU supporters in the area.

Thanks very much Brian! I've got an unstarted Vietnam Centurion in the stash with metal tracks. I'll get to it one of these days... I've only managed to see United when they play in the states - went to Old Trafford during an international break so close and so far.

Hi Brian,I too served on Centurion,with the 105m,the only gripe with this build is"theres no way am I putting cloth round this metal barrel". Shame he hasnt realised that the"Thermal sleeve"is an integral part of the function of accuracy when firing numerous rounds through the"METAL" gun .4/7RDG Btw.

@BrasherFox2 жыл бұрын
@@todgertownwhite They found, during WWII, that a cold wind on one side of a bear barrel is detrimental accuracies especially when quite a few shots had been taken and the barrel was hot. Hence the thermal sleeve. Nice to hear from you.

You did fine. Many people insist on the way to do it but whatever works for you is okay. Maybe use pigments for dust. Looks pretty good. The sand will polish the track

I like a German camo Black Brown for my chipping it looks more of that raw steel look you would get when paint chips and starts to discolour with the acidic rain etc! Still it looks great 👍

Run a bead of extra thin along the part to soften the glue back up it always works for me if get things like this, part in wrong places etc from second hand kit's! Amusing hobby new shot kals are very nice too! I've still to build there Gimmal but it's there waiting for me haha! The Alef is nice just finished that one better tracks and kinds starting to like the wheels a hell of alot better easy to add and archer resin weld round the rim I just like its not rubber tyre's and track's! Still have and like afv clubs too though but there is a massive improvement

Great build! nice job on chipping i also follow Night Shift as well as Plasmo,Panzermister 36,LPJ models,Andys Hobby,Champion scale modeling and CW modeling.I just started armor modeling 9 months ago and i am still struggling,learning. I spend more time watching videos than building models lol! The cost of the models is nothing compared to equipment and materials needed, I have spent around $1000 so far and still don't have what i need.

Tim - just take your phone and set it up and record what you do and what you think. Just be yourself. If you're happy with the results then publish it. I'm certainly no expert - my wife gives me suggestions when she sees what I record and I use that to adjust.

I like the music at the 7:00/13:00 marks John, very nice! And your exhortation about drilling holes in F8; "Oi" Very apropos, considering this is a Israeli MBT. I saw (heard) what you did there. One question, John: Why did you buy a partially assembled kit? I would never have thought of that. P.S., I'm envious of your paint booth, much nicer than my cheesy plastic one. Give Dexter a pet for me. "Shoot", you did a nice job!

Thanks very much Kip! I grew up in the Lower East Side of NYC - very Jewish neighborhood, so I guess certain expressions are ingrained at this point. Lol. Good thing with it being a Shot kal they were chipped to buggery with sand blowing sandblasting the top coat off down to the old post ww2 bronze Green you could use the German camo for a bare armour chip with the lighter primer around the putter edge you could mix it up have atleast 3 different paint chip colours on this adding the green in to lighter sponge chips! I'm building the Brand new Afv club AVRE I'm doing it Gulf war so be in its sand yellow chipped through to the bronze green and red armour plate

Again nice and straightforward presentation, easy to watch, but again the editing is a little 'jarring' at times - as I said before, not a criticism simply an observation. I have this kit very close to my bench and was aware of the confusing instruction call-outs. I find a highlighter pen on the sheet and separating the version specific pieces into separate zip-lock bags (and clearly labelling them) works for me every time - Panther & Tiger kits with inner, middle & outer wheels a true pain in the a*se in that respect. Keep the builds & vids coming, just subscribed and looking forward to what comes next. Best from NZ.
