The first couple times I saw Get Out, I didn't even catch the whole cotton in the ears thing when he escaped the chair at the end of the film. He pulled the cotton out of the armrests of the chair and then leaned forward to put the cotton in his ears. We see him bite at the restraints to demonstrate that he can reach his head to his hands. :)

The real reason Rose refuses to let Chris show his ID to the cop isn't because she thinks it's unfair or because she's defending him against injustice, although it's specifically what the director wants us to believe (we think Rose is the exception in her family and on Chris' side for as long as possible). The actual reason is that she doesn't want to risk the cop remembering Chris' name when it inevitably ends up in the police missing persons database a few days later. She wants to make sure they can't trace it back to her and her family, as they would have been the last ones to see him.

Then why did she call the cop in the first place? Why would she risk the chance that the officer wouldn't remember the uppity bitch and her black passenger? He saw her ID. He has her name. Seems a great risk if her plan was to keep her tracks covered.

18:38 That’s VERY early in the film to be making that connection. You’re sharp as a tack! The whole reaction has been really insightful, I’m obviously only halfway through the video, but I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else make that connection about the grandfather so early in the film. 🏆

Yeah, that’s always the craziest part of this movie for me: at first you’re made to think it’s just hypnotism then you find out it’s some insane, cultic mind/body switching. Such an interesting movie.

Jordan Peele can do no wrong in my eyes at this point. One of the few people I will go to an actual movie theater to see his films in a post-COVID world. I'm a sucker for intelligent horror films that are deeper than surface level slasher stuff.

Allison Williams (Rose) is in another great movie called The Perfection. It's a horror movie, but it's heavier on the drama side. But now that you've seen her performance here, you can have some idea of the incredibly convincing deadpan psycho she can slide in and out of. You should definitely check it out.

Just about every reactor asks how he got the cotton in his ears. I don't know why. Tied to the arms of a chair you should be able to lean forward and reach your ears with your fingers. Try it yourself and, if you can't, then speak to a chiropractor. 🤣

I appreciate the detail around 31:00 with Rose’s room and her eating the fruit loops and glass of milk separate. The connotation is segregation-separating the “colored” fruit loops, from the white milk, but the fact that she STILL eats the fruit loops, is the idea of fetishization, how she has a history of dating and sleeping with black guys, but still brings them back to her parents’ home to take their lives, and has each of their photos as trophies. Eating the fruit loops separately is her indulging in that twisted view. Each picture commemorates, not a once loving relationship, but an insidious conquest over a black person’s life and her fetishizing them. I suppose it’s like the saying goes; every rose has its thorns.

Loved this flick. I guess a lot of movies these days are packed with action from the very beginning to the finish, which explains why some people find the "character building" portion of the plot to be "slow". Love watching your reactions, ready for the next one.

In most of the U.S. (in this case, not meaning federally, but meaning state laws for each state), the general operating statutes are if operating, or if presumed to be operating, or if owner/proprietor of (falling into probable cause territory as passenger), that you must show your drivers license. Secondarily, municipality corporations (of city & county corporations) are the same, and override as jurisdictions locally (since prior to the 1920's, "driving licenses" were not a state nor federal matter, being local licenses until later, when they became a state issuance, with local law oversight). I don't remember for Canucklestan up there...my assumption would be each province is probably slightly different, and then, each municipal corporation would be as well. On the Canadian "federal" level...I flat don't know on that, but usually you guys take cues from the U.K. on that one, or Britain specifically, and those used to be open (meaning not having to identify unless thru probable cause concerns such as warrants, etc., as a passenger or merely in movement while not operating). The general argument used now, is that if moving in some capacity in the U.S., using commercial highways and streets, that you would be engaging in commercial activity (though this is disputed as the basis by said corporation territories and have been for years, do remember I knew individuals that had been alive long before drivers licenses or insurance was ever needed here in the U.S., and the argument against at that time, is that private conveyance was not necessarily indicative of commercial activity, even though now, you are on commercial highways, and may or may not be considered in commercial activity depending on specific jurisdiction). Still lots of arguments on all of it even today. Example- Horse, tractor, slow-speed non-highway private use vehicles...depending on what they are (here), may or may not require registration, and may or may not require licensing (such as a horse or tractor, or riding mower...though now licensing, at least locally, is coming into effect for 4 wheelers and ATV's, while in other places, it is not a requirement). A horse and tractor of course, never would require either registration or licensing...generally a horse is not considered a "vehicle", but if a horse is pulling a cart, on a city street, during business hours, it can be presumed by city ordinance to be in commercial operation and subject to motor vehicle and operator checks the same as any other vehicle. Therefore, the COUNTY roads, would NOT be subject to the same requirements of checks. This is, again...not always true depending on where you are at. Example- Locally, my city requires a horse not travel over 6mph on the street, as you are considered "speeding" with the horse, recklessly. No license or registration is required, but it is such an old law, it is still held over to now (from the early 1900's), due to use of horses from time to time. So you can get a speeding ticket on a horse. And a tractor too. Now, when contact is made with the operator of a horse or tractor, it is policy generally to ascertain identity, to check for warrants, etc. Such as...the officer may not know you stole the horse or tractor, and it is 3am...and you been drinking (so can get a DUI for that too)...it would behoove him to check your identity. In the old days, it was presumed the horse, not necessarily the rider, knew where it was going, so odds of bodily injury or an accident were not that huge...so off you went, drunk, on your horse. Nowadays...little different, they don't want you in traffic getting hit by a semi or a sedan (I know people that were on both sides of those accidents...not pretty.) Now...walking or bicycling have their own oddities, as you might expect. Inside a city limit, walking is not obviously a conveyance, but is subject to probable cause (such as a call coming in that a man committed a felony in (X) area, with (Y) general description, so they must stop you to ascertain if it was you) generally...while bicycling may or may not be subject to city ordinance, and probably not much on a county general law. If at any time you say to yourself, "This makes no literal sense in any manner.", you are right, Newfie. That's lawyerisms for you. It is 100% illegal to drink and drive around on a riding mower, though it requires no license or registration, and is obviously not a commercial use, in city streets, county roads, and state highways. Even though your top speed is 15mph or so. How you would classify that as "reckless" or "dangerous"...I don't know, but guaranteed someone drove one out into traffic and cause a pile up killing people, so that is probably why.
