My Mexican American husband took it 3 times! He is now a 3rd-year OMM medical student! He suggested you use U World, & do practice questions from there! He also suggested taking a practice test at least 3-6 times before you take the MCAT again! You gon get your 500 & beyond! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Crazy I would always watch you talk about the MCAT & now I’m studying for it & understand you on a completely different level. GIRLLL the way you have to know EVERY aspect of the human body on a cellular & non cellular level. A&P on crack. & that’s just the bio section. Then you got Chem, Physics, etc. whewww.

Salam lovely! As a supplement, signing up for a exam prep program like Altius helped me tremendouslyyy as I was working full time and studying after work. Having a group that provides a pre-set study structure took a lot of the decision-making and decision fatigue away from me so that I just would log on and log off on a more routine schedule /as a habit rather than having to muster up raw motivation (which I was lacking for various very natural reasons during that time). May Allah grant you abundant ease during this time and success abundantly for you🤲🏾

I’m also in the midst of receiving an ADHD diagnosis myself and I wish I could’ve clocked it before entering medical school so that it didn’t impact my performance and internal (and external) narratives surrounding my competence as much.

Salam! Thank you so much, I've tried a few exam prep programs and have struggled to keep up with them due to my schedule. But I recently joined a discord called "Premedley" and it's a nice way for me flexibly join certain content sessions and chat with other students in the same phase as me. Ameen! I truly appreciate your advice and your dua ❤❤

@@annika2271 I hope you can get that sorted, please lmk if anything changes. I've been curious on getting diagnosed but i'm afraid to rely on meds to keep myself productive. Also congrats on getting into medical school. Wishing you the best, you've made it in so you're definitely competent!

@@JustFatou The one thing to bear in mind about ADHD meds is that their effectiveness wears off over time - so yes, whilst the medication can be useful for short-term bursts (like a year or two of intense study lol hello taking exams), ideally you should be able to also work with a therapist who can teach you coping mechanisms and skills for dealing with your (possible) ADHD. At least that's what I've been doing, since ADHD medication is much more heavily regulated in my country than the USA. Good luck - you've got this!

I’m not sure if you’ve ever heard of AMEC but please attend this year or next if you can! It’s in New Orleans this year! I say this bc I understand how you feel 10000%. Because of the post Covid value in the person wearing the white coat, you aren’t as defined by your “numbers” and the culture of medicine is changing for the better. So the connections you make can help you leverage who you are as an applicant because the schools can get to know you beyond the paper! This is NOT a failure btw, this is you learning how you study medicine bc it’s a different type of brain challenge. And you have to restructure and figure out not only how you learn but how you retain and recall information. These standardized exams are about how you make connections as much as it is about the information and I had to learn that. I’m a medical student and I took a gap year too and I thank God for it but back then it didn’t feel like a blessing. Even now, the board exams have really humbled me but again in the moment it doesn’t feel great but the plans that God has for us are GREAT! Didn’t realize I was talking to myself too in the comment 🥴 but Dr. Fatou, the difference you’re already making in sharing your journey and just vlogging (loving it) is a blessing and inspiration to people more than you realize. ❤

First of all, I wanna say thank you SOOOOOO much for this comment! That's crazy that you mention AMEC because I was already in the process of planning on going this year. I have been wanting to go every year and didn't have the opportunity in the past but I'm hoping I can go this year. It definitely would be a perfect time for me to network with schools and students before applying this cycle. You're absolutely right about the way I study. I've noticed that studying for this exam is teaching me how to study in preparation for medical school. My undergrad way of studying won't work for these medical school standardized exams. It's definitely a learning process and I'm hoping that I'll get it in the end and get my white coat Insha'Allah (God willing). Thank you so much for your kind words, I'm wishing you the best on your board exams. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to meet you at AMEC this year! ❤

@@JustFatou you’re going to become such an academic weapon in med school, e go shock 😂 and thank you for the well wishes on my board exam, I just got my results and I passed and did well so we thank God bc it truly is HIS grace! It took a couple tries but this is a journey of growth and I’m so so so grateful to God. Oh and we absolutely have to link at AMEC!
