This! Anyone asking for abandoned penalties to be removed has clearly forgotten how bad leavers were prior to adding abandoned penalties. What we should be pushing for is for Ubisoft to improve their server connectivity. currently, it doesn’t appear as though their matchmaking attempts to put you on the server that you have the best connectivity to as evidence by the fact that Ubisoft insists i’m putting me on Central/South Central servers. I know for 100% fact that the connectivity problems are with Ubisoft set up because Microsoft/Amazon have tools that you can test your connectivity to their data centers in these areas and when I use those tools, my connectivity is good yet when I go through siege it’s bad. With as bad as rainbow six siege net code is, Ubisoft needs to keep server connectivity as good as possible. I’ve noticed that anymore than 20ms difference between players can cause the netcode/hitreg to become unreliable at best.

I can also confirm that matchmaking doesn’t check your connectivity to the server. I have the entire south Central IP range and tried blocking it. Siege matchmaking tried sending me there anyway and error’d out because it couldn’t connect. Why siege doesn’t take server connectivity into account for matchmaking is odd because I’m pretty sure most other games do.

The abandon penalty isn't even really deterring people from leaving ranked matches anyways. Played a game the other day with a friend and the other THREE people on our team left after two rounds lost. And it feels like every other match played has at least one person out of the 10 leave. It's so annoying.

If anything putting the dc penalty onto Standard mode despite not using the same map pool as Ranked probably pushed more people willing to dc into the ranked pool. Personally if i'm gonna eat a ban for dcing or having to go do something mid game on Standard I'm just going to play Ranked because i don't have to risk playing on Hereford or House in Ranked.

I live in a rural area in Canada and starlink kicks out every once in a while or even Telus kicks out multiple times a day and me and my friends mainly play quick match because 1 of us usually has a ban because we got kicked at the end of a game, it even does it in standard which is actually so dumb

This shit happened to me aswell multiple times. And also due to some new bug my game was crashing when launching on DX11. It let me into the game lobby, i could queue for ranked, but the everytime i joined the game it just crashed directly. And with siege being siege, it takes like 2-4 minutes to launch the game again, at that time your team ofcourse cancels and you get banned for an hour. It crashed on me like 3 times untill i realized its DX11. Idk about now, but back in the day Apex had a feature which didn't ban people who crashed and left the game, their elo wasnt taken either. It was removed due to abuse but there is a decent replacement. When you "abandon" the match, you get only 10 minutes of penalty, drawback being you get full elo removed or so. Anyway, it should be possible for them to detect such occuring errors and literally give no cooldown.

For me it happens almost allot now. I started playing siege during Deadly Omen or whatever its called. Whenever fenrir was added. And im playing on a very low end laptop and I have my settings at the lowest and cant even see shadows or people properly because of low res. And everything is going good despite all those reasons. Up until the season where tubarao was added, they changed something and idk what it is, but im getting alot of errors and keep getting kicked. And it doesnt let me back in. Also theres this "VIRTUAL MACHINE" error that keeps happening. Idk what it is, but its infuriating.

Siege gave my GF and friend Racc abandon penalties for a casual match. I queued casual, it gave them a game but kept me in the queue with a squad of 3 still showing. They left, got abandon sanctions for no reason after leaving a casual game, and then we all had to restart to queue casual again. It's ridiculous.

I got kicked in the(hopefully) last round on Consulate. All match I had two teammates that kept getting disconnected, yet my team and I held in there to get into OT. We were one round away from winning when my teammate got kicked, then after I got a kill that put to a 4v2, I got kicked while getying hit with 1k ping out of nowhere.

I’m on console and lately I’ve been getting kicked because my “console is too hot.” However it’s not hot in the house, I clean my Xbox all the time, it’s on my desk not being blocked by anything and it’s only been this season that it’s happened. Also it doesn’t happen with any other app, game, or anything that I or my kids use. They don't need to get rid of it, they need to detect crashes (like any game can), and when it happens, use all that telemetry they're collecting for good for once, notify the team that you crashed and it wasn't intentional, and remove the abandon sanction. It's literally such an easy fix.

Lmao, you can get abandon penalties for having high ping, let alone short DCs. So when Ubi randomly decides that your best connection is fucking Mars, if your ping happens to be above 150 (which is already Hellish), there's a good chance the stupid leaver system will just think you're not connected and drop you a penalty for your trouble. Eastern US players getting connected to fucking Frankfurt on a regular basis. Used to be you could change the default server with a text doc, so it could be mitigated, but they "fixed" that.

If you make it so losing connection avoids the abandon penalty then people will just toggle their wifi off any time they want to rage quit or troll a lobby. There is no good solution to this problem and it is frustrating to be up at 3am when your ISP decides to do some regular maintenance, but that firm line is the only thing holding back far worse problems.

I like the second part of this idea for sure. My only thought with not having a penalty for disconnecting would be that people would just go turn off their router or unplug ethernet or something to force a disconnect so they could still leave the game but not have a penalty.
