Thank you for sharing this. I wonder how you got them? do they come through open windows, or do you bring them home with new plants that you just bought? Fortunally I have never had thrips in my plants. I really hope you got rid of all the thrips!

Lucky you! I hope you never have them either. They can get in many ways - I do have windows open and the house is opposite a green, so could have been blown in. Or I have been buying plants (as usual!) so they could have been hiding on new ones. We have had a warm spell a few weeks ago, so if they were dormant, they might have woken up then and started their cycle, only becoming noticeable when the plants looked sad. I'm determined to get rid of them though! 💪

@@growyourwellbeing In the early spring, i brought home a plant that turned out to have fungus gnats. I put it in the kitchen, seperated from other plants so that i could treat it later. I got a habit of singing when i am working in the kitchen, soo... well the next day, my plant was surrounded by lots of dead gnats and no gnats was alive. I never got to treat the plant and have not had the problem since. So there you go, singing does the trick with gnats (or maybe its just MY singing!) perhaps it will work with thrips as well? - Funny story and off course i am joking here, but seriously that is the only pest problem i have had so far, in the 3 years i have collected plants. So yes, i guess i am lucky so far. Please let us know how it went for you, if you got rid of the thrips? 😊

How exactly does it work? Does it need to be used together with soap? Ive been using just emulsified neem oil and it doesn't kill the adults, only the larvae in the soil, so whats the point in spraying the leaves? Would soap kill adult ones?

Someone told me that if you water your plants from the bottom, so that the top layer of soil never get wet, the gnats wont lay their eegs in dry soil. At least that should minimize the problem. 😊

That's a great suggestion to prevent them or to slow them down from spreading if you notice you already have them 💡

Hi Tammy, thanks for watching - the solution should work against most houseplant pests 🕸. I have a Fungus Gnat video on the channel - I give another alternative solution for soil drenches using hydrogen peroxide. I think it is an older video so might need to remake it to improve the quality, but the content is all there 👍
