Met up with Kenny in person and he answered a lot of my questions and gave me some great pointers and information on competing leading up to my first match last year. I am hooked and have chosen to participate in the quantified performance series this year. To everyone thinking about shooting your first match, just go and do it. As Jimmy stated in the video, don’t be afraid to ask questions once you’re there, be safe and watch others. You will learn a ton and what you need to practice for the next match.

I'm going to be dipping my toes in rifle matches with a hunting style competition called UHRC. on mental errors, do things the same way each time! example, at make ready, open the scope caps, check optic is on or set where you want it for the stage, check turret for zero or dial for the stage, open action, then load. do it the same each time to remove the mental error from your actions.

I’ve asked a few buddies if they’d be interested in matches.. a common thing is they don’t want to set up a gun to fit into a specific division. Wed all prefer matches that were setup for any form of “duty rifle”. Dot/mag, prism, lpvo, mpvo etc just run what ya brung. Less concerned about completion and gaming it but more geared towards real world capability of the platforms stacked up to one another. More of a social experience to meet others of common interests. Another issue I have is lack of available places to train in my area. That goes for all sorts of training. Within an hour of me no ranges offer anything beyond 100yds and shooting off a bench. None allow any other kind of shooting either. I’m fortunate and have permission to hunt across ~4,500 acres and can shoot a bit but it’s seasonal farm ground and I can’t leave targets out. It becomes a whole day of going, setting up and breaking down. I don’t have time to do that very often.
@jimmybrodriguez9 ай бұрын
Just shoot whatever division your gun falls into and use it as a means to build skill. You can practice everything you need at 100 yards except wind reading and data confirmation. If you do what you can at 100 yards I promise you'll still be ahead of the curve

Even if you have the same ammo if you have different lots in that batch your point of impact can change by a whole inch at 100 yards I definitely recommend trying to buy enough ammo from one lot in one sitting to last the entire match

Yes using the same batch is also very important

No mention of a range finder. If you do hike and shoot(i.e. Competition Dynamics type matches) a laser range finder is a HUGE must.
@jimmybrodriguez9 ай бұрын
For the type of matches mentioned you can borrow someone's range finder or ranges are given. The type of match you've mentioned is different and likely wouldn't be someone's first match.
@dinovelvet89339 ай бұрын
@@jimmybrodriguez True, it probably wouldn't be a beginners match for most. I've never been to a CD match where the ranges are given and borrowing is most likely a nogo.
@MichaelLeopold19 ай бұрын
In between stages, reset the scope. Especially true if you dialed more than a full rotation. If not, may very well forget and when you adjust you’ll be off one full rotation and nowhere near where you’re aiming at

@@shomu1 I would reach out to the online retailer before ordering. They "should" be able to let you know what the LOT# and how much and how likely it would be to receive all of the same.
