THANK YOU for including the dimensions! There's conflicting info online, and I need to make sure I get a photo printer small enough to fit in the amount of space I have. This one looks like the best choice! It's funny, because Epson calls their XP-970 model a "small-in-one," but the dimensions of this are actually smaller!

I am struggling with this printer! First of all, it needs several sheets in order to print a single sheet as otherwise it says paper tray empty. Secondly, it doesn't recognise A5 paper even though there is a set-up for that. And most important, when using my photo software programme with all margins set to 0 it refuses to do borderless printing on anything but 4X6. So please tell me what's to like about this printer?

why do they keep sending the software on a cd ? Most modern computers do not have a Cd , and, a lot of manufacturers just send a USB stick with the software on that .I guess I will have to go online and download the stuff I need.......maybe just the drivers as I have the 4850.

Printer was £114…? XL ink pack is £100……! Not really economical for business applications, but really nice little printer.... Did you find a solution to ink costs?

Nah no solutions on the ink cost, other than generic ink and being mindful of what I print.

Hey, thanks for the review. Were the cartridges used the ones that originally came with the printer? I ask because apparently they are just starter cartridges and don't contain much ink. I'm currently considering getting this printer or the Canon PIXMA TS6350(UK)/6320(US). I'll be using it mainly for photo prints so ink is a big concern for me in terms of cost. The Canon apparently is more ink efficient but more expensive than this one with less features. How are you finding this printer performs with photos having had it a bit longer since you recorded this?

First off thank you so much for leaving a comment. I almost said in the video that maybe those were starter inks, but honestly I'm not sure. I feel like it if it was starter inks it wouldn't show the bar as full. I'll try to check the manual and see if that really was the case. I've had the printer for about 1 week and already I have the light magenta showing the warning sign saying its low. I already ordered light magenta and light cyan, because that's about to go out too. Pretty soon I'm going to print greeting cards so if it's goes down really quickly again, then that's a bad sign and would put me off from Epson again. I plan on still using this printer for prints but once I get a bigger space I wouldn't mind going back to a Canon printer. Now I do still want to use the printer for test prints, image transfers and general printing. And I haven't used the scanner yet either. Overall I do like the printer but the ink does concern me. We'll see what happens after this new ink I bought. Follow the channel and I'll keep you posted. Again thanks for the comment 🤗🥳

Can you tell how long did it last the inks. And are you satisfied with your printer i am thinking of buying one. I mean do you have in mind a kinda regret that you should have bought the other one,then let me know what is the better option

Yeah I regret buying Epson lol. Canon is way better. The main CMYK inks last pretty well. But the light cyan and light magent are horrible. I've already replaced them twice lol. Granted I print a lot. For prints and zines. So when I print it's a lot at once then I won't use it for who knows how long. But yeah, wish I had just bought a Canon. Any Canon lol. Gave Epson a chance and now I see what people say when Epson printers waste ink. Never again. Overall it's a great printer. Loads of features. But that light magenta and cyan run out way too fast.

I still have it but I rarely print it on due to the high ink usage. I use a Canon printer that I got at a charity shop. It is a good printer but if you need to print lots of artwork it can suck up the ink real quick.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend this printer just based on the inks. The only thing I could recommend is a canon printer since I used to own one.

How many prints did you get before having to buy more ink?

I think on the 4x6 I think I was doing around 30-40 and quickly the ink was running low.

Hi. I just bought this printer but the quality for me is terrible. I’m trying to print something with a lot of black but it’s coming out more grey and washed out. I’ve changed the paper settings, changed to cymk when printing but nothing is working. Have you had this issue?

I actually didn't have issues with quality. Just how much ink it was using. Maybe try calibrating it again?

Hello, I have just bought this printer XP-8700 today, I have fitted the inks and tried to make a test print....but a message says the inks aren't fitted properly. So I have removed them and re installed the inks, but getting the same message. Can you help me please. Thank you.

Yeah they selling it for the same at Argos too. I still wouldnt buy it at £99 lol. Ink is too costly.

@@siandaySDL It's a great printer for the price with features like the SD slot, but I agree that the ink is eye wateringly expensive. Back to the drawing board!

@@davidmolloy126 yeah for what you get it's a great printer. I just used the scanner option the other day. Scanned my ID straight to my computer. I'm going check how high res I can scan, but I might toss my smaller scanner and just use the one on the printer.

The ink is the most problem. The price and the orignal 5ml off inkt. From a other you get 12 ml. Or the reflil printer. Bigger price lower inkt cost. My problem is i used not any day then it will drying. When you cleaning it cost that a lot off inkt. I most doi it so 3 time. I see form 100 procent tot 20 procent go the level. I used het most for hobby models i make small sticker on a 4x6 inch card. On one card many stickers size 10x40mm.
