I have to admit, when it first came out, I unlocked the crossbow and then just didn’t touch it. But now, after playing around with it more, it’s super fun and a favorite of mine.

on your first build, i would take magnetic shafts in tier 5, because of the electric reload. the ability to fire the bodkin points without aiming, with the 25% dmg bonus, will help quite a bit.

Not sure if it's worth it, electric reload already one shots grunts so hitting them with bodkins would be wasted ammo.

@aarepelaa1142 the aim assist is big but the damage boost is not when used off of other than an ifg or boomerang due to time investment and overkill.

I have the most reps on fire bolts and trifork. Trifork just bursting high priority targets feels so good, and fire I started taking I think because of your video on the Drak OC's, the Overtuned Particle Accelerator, with the idea being that OPA makes the Drak just a short ranged weapon while the xbow is high value for longer ranges, acid spitters and web spitters and can also still just throw a fire bolt on the ground as a high economy way to mitigate a cluster of swarmers. The one thing that I do change, however, is in T3 taking velocity over reload speed. Just earlier, tried reload speed and it definitely felt very different xd

My personal use for the specialist is taser bolts, and I pair it with AISE. This is my elimination build. Shoot a few tasers into a dread and it will slow to a dead stop. If the driller is running cryo, he can freeze it easier, and the tasers dont interfere with the cryo build up. Slowing a dread on higher hazards is invaluable because they can be really fast, so slowing them down to a near stop allows the whole team, yourself included, to really focus on the weakspots.

Phero is really good with cryo, but I tend to advise taser instead for a few different reasons: Firstly, tasers alongside cryo gives you more diverse problem solving. Where phero cryo really wants to synergize together, cryo taser doesnt, instead working in different situations that end up covering eachothers weaknesses. Taser does super well against machines, nems, bulks, oppressors, and can quickly take preatoerians out of the fight temporarily. Conversely, cryo is very good at dealing with swarmers, swarms themselves, stationaries, breeders, flying swarms, and completely taking preatoreans out of the fight after a bit. All of this diverse utility definitely sizes up against pheros hyper specialization in swarm control. Secondly, phero nades themselves are just really strong. The flex utility of taser cryo gives you the ability to choose IFG instead since you still maintain plenty of CC in kit, but moving phero to nade means even bigger crowd control when you really need that burst CC. Lastly, i find this flex to be a lot more reasonable alongside a variety of teams. If my team is running flame, or not keeping my phero'd enemy alive, the phero cryo combos power really diminishes. Thats the general issue of flame phero for hyper crowd clear specialization, it can really fall apart with a team handling these things, but when you have teams like this the taser still shines at shutting down big enemies with heavy slows. Overall both cryo phero and cryo taser are very good, but I'd definitely recommend taser over phero.

Plasma rifle (efficient cooling OC) with electrocution chance + boomerangs + crossbow with electric bolts + bodkin bolts makes you ultimate electromancer. Very good crowd control (mass electrocution all the time) however harder time with big game. Maybe there are more efficient builds, but this one is very fun to use :)

Wouldn't multiple taser bolts on heavies tear apart their health super quick? I think there isn't much of a downside with this set up. I'll have to give it a try!

Shield battery booster and trifork pair pretty well together. The draks electric mod procs pretty consistently so you always have an opportunity to use a magnetic shafts for big damage.

Fire bolt is good aoe; swarmers have 5 heat threshold and 20 cold, so it one-ticks compared to cryo-bolts' 4 ticks (4x consistency; ~1/5th second instead of needing 4/5ths during pass-through). Ice bolt is like the cryo minelets that specializes for big targets instead and is way worse against swarmers and the hoard in general (needs more resources like ifg and/or some pheramones to even work well there due to slow freezing speed-rate). My favorite is Specialist 21 electro-bolts with 20 seconds duration. It also boosts the electric-lines durations a lot and you can deal absurd single-target slow+dot by triple-stacking a big baddie with 3 electro-darts. It's 2 50% electric lines slows (those lines stack up to 2 per target as a status condition) and 3 80% direct-target electric slows (any number can stack per target there). You can shoot 3 at an oppressor and it has .02% movespeed for ~15 seconds or so (chains don't have the _full_ 20 seconds timer). Also works with half effect(but same durations) on dreads and they also barely move (better on the normal dreads making them do nothing nearly). The 3 darts also deals 5x DOT stacks not just slow. Big enemies take like over 1000 damage over the full duration where they also don't move.

the great thing about the phermone bolts is that it allows alot of enemies to gang up on one enemy, so what youd do is if you got a warden you shoot the warden and since the warden is the only target for the glyphids they all attack the warden, and since the warden is protecting and buffing the glyphids, the warden has no chance its a great anti warden weapon although oppressors dont see much benefit although it does change the aggro of the oppressor to the glyphids i dont see any other good points for those enemies, alrhough it is nice to keep around a large enemy so the pheromone bolts do last the full duration i run the clean overclock that gives more special bolts and let then last longer its just a great way to have a get out of jail free card for the chaotic sessions the tier 5 for the crossbow upgrades was there actually a big difference with having the longer lasting pheromones compared to not having it because in the stat screen it shows if you have the clean overclock on that has longer effects, the stat screen shows no difference with the upgrade or not

I run Bodkin almost all the time, but I like Electric bolts. I find Phero bolts underwhelming because I have yet to see anyone not immediately kill whatever I hit with the bolt anyway. Unless I'm solo, or making sure I only use them super far from the group, they don't do much. I used to run a lot of solo and loved them, but then I got a better PC so people didn't need to wait 5 minutes for me to load a level. Maybe more people have gotten the idea and have stopped just unloading into the pretorians or oppressors you tag now? Chemical bolts are hard to trigger the explosion on in the right scenario, so they're kinda meh. But Electric bolts are great. Great for large targets where you can put multiple bolts on them and create lines across them. Can handle groups with a choke point, though Bodkins do groups just fine. They also rip Bulk Dets and Bet-C to pieces - just MELT them.

I tend to pair cryo bolts with banshee module so that any pretorian i wanna freeze cant use its range attack. And before you say why would you make your enemys run from something that freezes things i'd say "you cant run if you cant turn fast enough"
