Patched: In 1.40 they made mortars have the same autofire and barrage range, as well as moderately increasing the rate of fire of autofire.

Fun fact: With the DAK, the 8 Rad's Vet 1 toggle ability increases the accuracy and rate of fire of nearby vehicles and crew weapons. This affects majority of crew weapons including their abilities that increase RoF like the barrages; and also stacks with vehicle abilities that increase their rate of fire like the Panzer III or Marder III Vet 1 abilities. Surprisingly, Mortars and MGs hardly get affected.

I never knew there was a penalty to barraging a position in the Fog of War. No wonder AI Hard and Expert always seems to hit dead on since they don’t have Fog of War.

1 thing missing. when you set up mortars/artillery/paks you can see their cone of fire in the minimap.

great guide. Would be cool to see more artillery/indirect fire inclusion in high level 1v1 builds - seems a bit rare at the moment

Maybe now pachino is in the map pool we might see it a bit more. Most 1v1 builds are filled with mobile infantry, light vehicles and mediums, not many team weapons so indirect isn't really necessary or good.

Yeah i feel like you'd need construction unita to lay enough wire/tank traps to make it feel worthwhile, but their build speeds are really slow atm

Am I weird that I use AT guns for indirect fire? I’ve had some beastly moments with it. Once punching through a sandbag and killing the last 2 members of a mg team in one hit.

In COH2 everytime i use a indirect fire unit I always seem to get so little value from them lol. Can't seem to get big juicy clumps, at most i might hit a single squad or tank but the enemies always spread out and move continuously. So I nearly never get indirect fire TT

I don't know why but I have tested today me Leig and no one of them are auto shooting enemies. Both for packed option, and unpacked facing the enemy position ;/

Are you sure the enemy was in autofire range? The barrage range is WAY longer.

@@tightropegaming yes, if only ground attack range is the same as auto shooting range. It seems like there is a bug somehow on multiplayer maps, because i have tested on cheats mode and was working fine. Maybe related to scouting with other units?

I think they need to give the Brit boys blob extra boys rifles. 2 x rifles per model. Also, they need to nerf axis more. Equip Panzer Grenadiers with chop sticks instead of Kar98s....
