Kevin it's awesome that you are demonstrating no reproduction parts factory or otherwise is a perfect fit. Adjusting fit is what makes you a body man and not a parts changing hack. And at the risk of having all the Chev guys mad at me, you are making these gaps way better than they came from the factory. I'm 64 and was there when these were new. The gaps were not good off the dealer lot so you're showing high quality build techniques and the correct way to do it. Nice work!

@@paintucation The KZbin content is also better and not time crunched... if it takes 3 hours, you do a 3 hour video. Plus I never did like that Motortrend cadence way of talking... if you watch long enough they all do it... voice volume changes up and down in a repeating pattern, everything is short sentences, etc...

@@benhur520 I'm not a fan of the "side-bar testimonial" that is SO PREVALENT in TV these days... EG - Host does something on camera... says a few words.... then-side bar the same host pops up and repeats the same words and describes whet they just did and said.... I find that a little insulting actually.

I am glad you've joined up with Derek on a couple projects. VGG is one of my favorite KZbin channels, but it's nice seeing work done correctly instead of "good enough". No disrespect to Derek because that's the theme of his channel... no need to spend thousands to get an old vehicle back on the road and do it yourself with tools you have. But it is nice watching the opposite end of that spectrum. In fact I'm more comfortable watching your channel because it's do it once, do it right. I hope Derek will let you get your hands on his Pantera. The two of you compliment each other. It'd be cool to see him do a rescue/revival and drop it off at your shop to do a restoration to document it from start to finish.

I've been watching you for years. You are the master at teaching and showing all the small detail stuff. I finished my first 70 Camaro about a year ago. Replaced every piece of sheet metal on that one. The tail panel was th biggest PIA to get right but the car turn out awesome. I am working on my other 70 Camaro now. It appeared to only need quarters and cowl panel but it didn't take long to figure out that it needed a lot more. Ended up needing the speaker tray, lower rear filler panel and a lot more. And again, that tail panel required a lot of work but was much easier the second time around. I can't stress how important it is to measure everything you can and take a ton of pics before jumping into a job like this. I also used all AMD. Keep the videos coming sir!.

Great videos from Kevin that don’t sugar coat the hard work with sheet metal. I’ve learned so much that I’m applying to my 67 Chevelle resto. History that I just learned recently. The reason the 70 Camaro production was delayed by months was the difficulty in stamping the curved die panels. 69 Camaro production was extended (helps us find projects today !) requiring huge “jumping through hoops” to keep supply of parts coming. Maybe some viewers worked at Norwood plant or others that can add to this with their knowledge. Hope Santa will bring Kevin a decent air compressor for his TV shop ! Thanks for all you do for our hobby !

Understanding about automotive strikes with UAW, and how that influenced production and build quality ( at least in FORD) was fascinating to me. good stuff. I wish KZbin was around when I bought my first vehicle. A 1950 Chevy 3/4 ton truck. I drove it to school , work and back home. I didn't have the knowledge to restore it at the time, 1984. It did not fail me and I eventually sold it. I do miss it though . I was lucky enough to be able to walk from high school to a job at a car dealership where I was hired to paint the awning then sweep floors. I befriended the shop guys and the body shop guys. They all were great at answering questions. A guy in the shop gave me access to his tools and I could use the lift after hours. The body shop guys let me do some work. I ruined a customers aluminum wheels he wanted re-finished. I sanded the crisp edges of the alum off. I learned some lessons.

Clecos are great! For a long time I used my meager supply of ViseGrips and lots of screws. A good friend's dad was an expert airframe technician. He gave me a large amount of Cleco fasteners. Some of those had a threaded pin instead of spring loaded. Those things are great for drawing two panels together nice and tight and they are solid copper so weld spatter doesn't stick.

Kevin I love the videos I just finished replacing the floors in my 68 charger and was feeling confident about putting quarters on my 56 bel air and my 69 charger but after watching this video I'm not as confident that I can do a good job they are so much more involved and alot more difficult looking. Lol anyway whether I do them or not I look forward to your next video have a great day brother

The dolly is important for shape but the hammer work is where it happens. There's a reason for the long handle, you use it well. It might help going through the differences in force between being choked up or swinging from the end. Works differently with different metals as well. No critique, great work Kevin.

@paintucation I was hoping you could convey technique. I wasn't trying to critique you. I just think they forget the hammer part of hammer and dolly. Loving the show, no complaints.

I know your passion is teaching and cars, these videos are just that. I realize paintucation is your baby so I think there's room for both if you choose that route. This camaro build is intensive with the hundred of spot welds to be drilled and welded, it would be nice if you had help for those really big jobs.

Like watching your “process”. I also watch some of the rebuilders of modern vehicles, the precision they are assembled with is on a different level. These era cars really need a lot more work. Appreciate you not doing a bodge job. BTW, my first car was a 1969 Firebird, 400 4spd, not sure what my Dad was thinking.
