My first car was a 74 javelin 4 speed 401. Black with white interior. Bought it in 78 for 1200. I did offer 1000. But he was a nasty one when I met him. Cold door knock. Long hair shirtless and stinking drunk. 1200 and slams the door. I came back 20 minutes later with the 1200. 3 flats and park in the back yard under a huge leaky tree just covered in sap. In a couple of hours I had it running and off to the carwash. I was blown away by the condition of the car. Thank God I saved it.

Back in '72 my ride was a '68 Firechicken, 400 H/O, Holley 750 double pumper, complete Accel ignition (coil, wires, plugs), 3/4 cam, Blackjack headers, Hurst competition shifter, 22" Mickey Thompson street slicks and a big ass pair of shackles on the back end (LOL ...couldn't afford air shocks). The coolest feature was the speedometer....it went to 160 mph. Never buried it, but had it up to 150. That car had balls the size of watermelons.
@jameswood2314 ай бұрын
I remember seeing those 160MPH Speedometers. 😮. Most cars were 120MPH. Then the 80's came with 85 MPH Speedos with the "infamous" 55😢 highlighted on the dial 🤮 Sammy Hagar's "I Can't Drive 55" comes to mind.😁 So does those speeding tickets of my carefree youth. Lol 😂😂😂

My guess is the oil problem was primarily the dented pan causing the pickup to be so close to the bottom and sucking up all the sludge. Normally there would be more space and the sludge would’ve stayed on the bottom below the pickup. Glad you’re saving her, everyone always loves the Camaros but I always thought the birds were really cool!

Great video - My first car was a 69 Pontiac Catalina with a 400 engine and it had exactly the same problem with sludge blocking the oil pump. I attributed it to using leaded gasoline because my sludge was grey in color. Shut it down after a low oil pressure startup and removed the oil pan to clean and fix the problem. Still got a few more years on it. That car ran for over 12 years and over 160,000 miles until rust from being driven in Syracuse, NY cracked the frame over the drive axle and it got sold to a junk yard.

Excellent video Wyatt :) , Lance :) , Christina :) these 1969 Pontiac Firebird cars are awesome plus amazing 400 V8 motor 4 barrel plus daul exhaust , think they use Turbo 200 R power glide 2 speed Automatic transmission or Turbo 350 for 3 speed, Turbo 700SR 4speed Overdrive Automatic transmission , Manual transmission I only seen was Muncie 4 speed so far may be 3 and 5 speed but not sure on ! Power Steering also Brakes too , think were 4 wheel drums brakes and disk on front only in 1970 years ! I seen use 303 to 411 rear end gears 12 bolt posi or not ! Color bodies been lots different I seen in too and interior I like was black one! My late Cousin John SR had this style 400 V8 motor 4barrel 650 CFM carb with Daul exhaust , hook up to Turbo 700SR 4speed Overdrive Automatic transmission with Shift Kit, 377 rear gears in 1982 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS car back 1988 to 1994 last seen car ! I last heard John sold Pontiac Firebird to guy was restoration it but want put different motor and transmission plus axle too his was Forest Green ! I would get paint job to Cherry Red too and interior clean up!
