Two of these in a row just taking off a db or two is *chefs kiss”. Amazing vocal leveler as well. For some reason I kind find settings I like on the api 2500 but this does the job so well.

I’m a die hard 2500 fan but this has been replacing it for my 2 bus. It’s just a “make better” box. Same with the hitsville mastering eq, the dimension C (insane as a “send a ton of stuff to this” bus with all 4 buttons in), and the Studer Tape.

Sounds great with acoustic sources. And soul/chill rock, detailed music done with microphones. Considering Capitol’s history that makes sense. It’s not really the right fit for mastering heavy bass/electronic or contemporary heavy rock. But I’ve tried it on percussion groups pushed into saturation a bit, in electronica, and it sounded great.

Great Comp. Bought it today together with the Capitol Chambers for 75€ ( 2 for 99€ and voucher). Like both very much! This was my first purchase from Uaudio after years, because I was p.... Off my UAD1 plugins are useless since shutting down the server years ago. But now they are native.. and thats good!

It depends! This plug-in is amazing at transparently controlling transients, so it works great as the first compressor in the chain with faster attack settings followed by a slower comp for overall glue. But with the right settings it also works great towards the end of the chain for some final warmth and loudness thanks to the tube gain and saturator circuit!

Native only? I like my UA plugins, but they really are a lot more useful if I can track with them. Can't run this in Console, so oh well... I do get why you are doing the native versions as well for a lot of your plugins, but native only is not good for me. Please update this so that it also runs on your own gear.

I wouldn’t hold your breath for that. A lot of UAD plug-ins are developed by third-party such a soft tube and brain works. It seems extremely unlikely that they’d give the go-ahead for UAD to produce native versions, because that would be direct competition for the developers themselves, UAD, or not being honest or open about this.

Adding native plugins to spark will be the best strategy to maintain profit. I will never pay for spark until spark provides much more plugins. Today, for me it does not give me enough delays and reverbs. Also it doesnt have channel strip, deesser, limiter at all.

You know what would be great?! If they could make downloading their product even more frustrating and annoying(with the ilok, which is hell unto itself). I think I broke my cats rib I kicked him so hard out of Announce from trying to download their Minimoog. Thats on them. If he dies Ill send them the body by UPS. Cherry audio was easy(and cheaper). How many different places do I really need to open an account to do this? 3 so far. and you know all of them will send my email junk.

Not gonna lie this is the most useless comp for me. I always have to push it too far to get it to even do anything and even when it does something it doesn’t sound as good as I’d hope. I only really like it for the saturation when you crank it, using it for its intended purpose pretty much has no use for me.

Depends on the type of music. This comp works best on acoustic sources. Not so great with electronic/heavy bass or heavy rock. If you consider what Capitol released historically, it makes sense.

Matt, serious question. Why would anyone go with UAD these days? Your outdated hardware struggles to run even a small number of your plugins in DSP. You're a hundred years behind adding your existing plugin offering to Native UAD Spark and don't seem to be bothering anymore. UAD don't provide any kind of roadmap for development for your customers, LUNA hasn't been updated with any of the things people have been asking for for years, and I won't even start about OX. Why would anyone seriously invest in a company that seems to be sinking?

Tried it out. I didn’t hear anything that made it stand out from the other 30 compressors that I have. There are enough compressors out there already. UA try to be a little more creative. Thanks for all of the great plugins you guys make. The Ultimate 11 is a very satisfying bundle.
