Beware of blanket statements like "water once a week". The toughest part of plant care is understanding the factors that lead to knowing how often you should water your plant.

People usually don’t understand how true is the statement ‘the more light your plant gets, the more water it will demand’. I’d say 80% of overwatering occurs not because we water our plants too much, but because we don’t match our plant’s water requirements with its light conditions. That’s why I drowned my first Monstera but made thrive like a champ my second one.

Well said. As easy as the one sentence is to understand I think it has the highest learning curve. It can be about getting the "feel" of your plant. Challenging to do without making a bunch of mistakes first!

I just found your channel. Thank you for all the great info on caring for various plants. I've been growing plants since I was a kid, for some decades now, and I find it a bit funny how some plants come in and out of fashion. My favorites are throwbacks from what was popular years ago, like my Tradescantia zebrina, burros tail, pothos and lots of spider plants. I want to get a piggyback plant soon. I had one when I was a kid that I grew from a small seedling to a huge 18" hanging potted plant. I'm thinking about getting my first monstera. There is a discount store near me and they have a monstera that is in need of some TLC. It's a good price for it, so I'm thinking of rescuing it. Thanks to your videos on monsteras, I will check the condition of the plant and the growth pattern before I commit to it. Happy New Year and keep posting awesome plant tutorials.

I had the last one, it's really easy to keep alive but I was finding those little babies in pots with my other plants, growing like weeds. So better keep some distance from your other plants cause it will take over hahah

Hey this clip is much appreciated.... certain draecena varieties do quite well in my care and environment...one approch does not work for all specimens good to see someone acknowledge that .

Do you recommend plenty of perlite for most houseplants like monstera rubber plants?
@KillThisPlant3 жыл бұрын
Unless they thrive in moist conditions like a peace lilly, fern, or calathea, perlite is generally good for additive for many house plants.
@DeborahRose28853 жыл бұрын
@@KillThisPlant thank you so much everyone has different opinions about perlite, but i trust yours thanks again😊
