They're both amazing line-ups. Neither is better. Rust in Peace is without a doubt their heaviest and most technical album, but Peace Sells has its strengths as well. That album is chaotic and punky and way ahead of its time.

The Jazzy sound comes from Chris Poland & Gar Samuelson. Their background was Jazz Fusion.
@TomasUjhelyi12 жыл бұрын
As much as I love the Rust in Peace line-up, there is something about Samuelson's and Poland's jazz influence that just made thrash metal seem so fucking cool

@Oscarskate1001 Ride the Lightning, Four Horsemen, and Seek and Destroy were all group efforts that included Mustaine. Mustaine wrote Jump in the Fire (excluding lyrics) entirely before Megadeth even formed. It was his first song. Call of the Ktulu was entirely him, including the solo.

Nice man! Revocation's guitarist went to Berklee, he's a genius. One of the best players I've heard in ages. Actually though my favorite player/band right now is Chuck Schuldiner/Death. I just think they're one of the best bands of all time. Super artistic and metal at the same time. Lots of jazz and prog influence with the death/thrash.

This is why he is my favorite metal songwriter, musician, guitarist. It's almost impossible to do that with certain other metal guys. I think Friedman was of their ilk as well, probably why Mustaine chose him as his lead guitar foil. Pretty complimentary duo there
@HarvesterOfEyes9112 жыл бұрын
I forgot Phil Demmel, he wrote most of the stuff along side Rob on Eternal Nightmare. Even Brad Hull from Forced Entry, just listen to their song called Bludgeon. I think he deserves the utmost god damn respect.
@RSCao13 жыл бұрын
@dillioneberle I agree with him. I think he actually did kind of started everything. He had everything, the riffs the melody the speed and the aggression. That's just what made thrash. In my opinion, thrash wouldn't exist without him
@nativerockstar765111 жыл бұрын
Funny, if Dave was never kicked out of Metallica then there would be no Megadeth. If Kerry would have never played with Megadeth, then he probably would never start Slayer(not sure about that thought?). Meanwhile Anthrax would still keep going, fucking New Yorkers! Haha

I was about to ask the same thing before I read your comment, I assume so since Exodus released a masterpiece in 85 before other thrash bands established themselves.

Dave may have a douche attitude at times but I'd consider him the most hardworking talented musician in Metal...no that others aren't I mean...i have a lot of attachment the guitar playing of Megadeth in particular, because they basically got me started to play guitar myself. Also, among my most loved Thrash musicians: Gary Holt, Rob Flynn, Jeff Hanneman, Kirk hammet's old stuff, Mike torrao, Rocky George, Mike Scaccia, Mantas from Venom, John Connelly, Anthony Bramante.etc ALL LEGENDS!

@Bodomforever666 ok i'm a megadeth fan for my entire life and this is the megadeth music style over on his biography: they were THRASH METAL ONLY IN THEIR FIRST ALBUM Killing is my business... And Business Is Good, then from Peace Sells...But Who's Buying to Rust In Peace they were SPEED METAL and now since Countdown To Extinction they play a kind of melodic Heavy Metal

@LinkToon000 Motorhead and Pantera wouldn't be included in that. Motorhead is New Wave of British Heavy Metal, which inspired thrash, and Pantera is Grove Metal. Some of their stuff is very reminiscent of Slayer/early Metallica, but they were always in a class by themselves. The fifth band would either be Exodus or Testament.

Same here! I've only just heard of revocation, and they're pretty solid. Vektor is fucking insane though! It's taken me the longest time to really enjoy them, but now that I do it's almost been life changing! Have you heard of Sylosis? They aren't really considered part of this new wave of thrash. They sort of do their own thing. They're kind of thrash, prog, death kind of thing, and their guitarist is a motherfucker!

@Zell1995 I completely disagree, but to each's own. My original point was that while Mustaine did make some great contribution's the Metallica's first 2 albums, he cannot given the credit that there would be no metallica without him. I feel Metallica became Metallica on Master of Puppets, and all of there sucess of the 90s was without Mustaine as well. So really, saying there would be no Metallica without mustaine is just silly. They really evolved since his departure.

I believe KIMB has the most technical drums, Last Rights prove this!! Ha, my opinion, i wouldnt say its their most technical, or heaviest, but its debatable, only song i found "Heavy" on there was Take no prisoners, & maybe Holy Wars, but most of it had more speed then heavyness, my opinion anyway.

Well, i can see your point, but it really boils down to opinion. I think the riffing and over all instrumental attack of the first 3 records was deffinetly monsterous. However, I think on RIP- Youthinasia the songs were simple better. Better song structure, themes, and they had Marty Fucking Freidman playing lead for Gods sake!
@vivelehardcore12 жыл бұрын
@folsum53 i think what he meant was: without Mustaine would ve never gone that know in the l.a scene! off course Metallica developed their own style in the 1990's, but is it for the best? i think most thrash fans would agree. Metallica evolved for the worsT. dont get me wrong i still love metallica for their first 3 albums;) THRASH FOR LIFE
