Hi, St. Johns was my old stomping ground growing up. My uncle owned Hunts Variety in Churchill Square, haven't thought of that in years. Thanks for the memories. Signal hill was always a blast for climbing. Remember the Strand, the one on Water St. Was the best one. MAC BARFOOT ( CRAZY CLYDE ) played drums and that place rocked . THANKS AGAIN.

Thanks for the tour, as a Torontonian, born and bred, having lived here all of my 50 years, I’m really getting fed up with how big the city is getting, how crowded it is and how insanely expensive it is, not to mention the extreme poverty and high crime rate that is always on the rise. I do love my city, but I’m getting really fed up with taking five times as long just to go down the street, because our infrastructure is falling apart, as we received over 110,000 new citizens each year, and I need to change before I go crazy! I’ve travelled all over Canada, and have been to the most western eastern and southern points of this nation, but have never had the chance to get out to Newfoundland, particularly, St. John’s. I have a very large family in the East Coast, my mother is from a small town in Nova Scotia, called Antigonish, about a 2 Hour drive north of Halifax, And I absolutely love going there. My mom comes from a very large family, I swear to God I’m related to the entire town, and every time I go there, I never want to come back to Toronto, because the people there are just so loving and warm and caring, and will go out of their way, just to make you feel welcome, not so in Toronto. Here, if you even look at somebody, you’ll either get a dirty look, or are totally ignored, and that’s if you’re lucky! Frankly I’m getting fed up with it, and I’m thinking of leaving my hometown for the first time in my life at the age of 50. I was in Halifax last summer visiting family, I couldn’t believe how much it has grown itself, but it still maintains that unique east coast charm, and small town feeling in a good sized city, while I was in Halifax last summer visiting family, I couldn’t believe how much it has grown itself, but it still maintains that unique East Coast charm, and small town feeling in a pretty big city.... well, big by East Coast standards. It’s not even 500,000 people, but because their city Council actually has a brain, unlike the Toronto city Council, they refuse to allow their city to be overwhelmed by gigantic sun blocking skyscrapers like they have here in Toronto. As a result, instead of building up they have built out, allowing the downtown core to keep it’s somewhat small town charm, and I just fell in love with it. After watching your video, I think I’m gonna love Saint johns even more, it’s a very unique city, unlike any other in Canada, and because I’m already retired, as I was forced to quit working at 46 due to my health, I can move anywhere I want, provided I can get healthcare. Not sure if you actually check the responses to your video, but if you do, could you please recommend the best areas to live in, and the average price of a home/apartment. I’m desperate to get away from Toronto, it’s just too big now, too loud, too crowded, too cold and unfriendly, not to mention the soaring crime rate, poverty and homelessness, and zero affordable housing. I want to spend what time I have left in this world in a place where I can just breathe, and be happy, I think I may just fall in love with your hometown, so any and all advice you can offer, or anyone else can offer, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for the video!

So cool! I traveled to Vancouver in '10 but that's the only part of Canada I've ever seen (despite living 6 hours from Winnipeg), so this was awesome. I love seeing and visiting different places. I was born in southern New Jersey, the Cape May/Wildwood area, then moved to the piedmont region of North Carolina, then the Appalachians in Virginia, and finished out my childhood in rural North Dakota near the South Dakota border. I now live and work in the third largest city in South Dakota (which isn't saying much). Very flat, much corn/wheat fields.

Great hometown bio! You were on the Dean's List? So that's where the hustle comes from! Played soccer... does Chelle know? 🙊 I would love to visit other Canadian provinces, NFLD is definitely on the list. I'm a Montrealer, I think you're familiar with Osheaga? 😉 I'm more of a JazzFest gal. 🎷

I'm stuck here in LA(Los Angeles) trying to make my escape and St. John's looks like the perfect place. I used to live in Alaska so I'm ready for a little cool weather and fun...

I moved to Alberta from NL back in December. I was looking at videos from home and stumbled upon this video. I think we were friends briefly as kids. I grew up on Mullock Street :)

Grew up in Newfoundland as well. Pouch Cove to be exact. Now living in Ontario too. My mom went to Holy Heart (way back when it was an all girls school). I myself went to Booth, which they closed last year. :(

I visited St John's in the early 1990s, while following my hometown team, the Baltimore Skipjacks hockey team, play the St John's Maple Leafs. It was one of the best vacations I ever had, and I absolutely fell in love with St John's. The people were some of the nicest people I've ever met anywhere. The owner of our hockey team took all of us out to dinner one night at a place called The Flake House Restaurant, located in Quidi Vidi. The food was delicious and the setting was unbelievable! I'm hoping to scrape together some money soon to make a return trip, hopefully during the summer months. It was early March when I visited, and needless to say, it was COLD. Again, I loved everything about the place, and I really didn't want to leave!

What is there to do there? Cause I’m thinking of going on holiday their in November. The reason I want to go in November because I heard it gets like 2 and a half feet of snow, and being from Cumbria, England I’m lucky to get an inch of snow a year and I fucking love snow soooo.
