Alright y’all here’s my bread recipe! Mix together: 2 Tbs yeast 2 cups warm water 2 Tbs honey Let sit until bubbly. Add: 1 Tbs salt 2 Tbs oil (I use olive) 5-6 cups all purpose flour Knead until dough is soft and not sticky (add more flour if needed). Divide in half and roll into logs. Place into buttered bread pans. Let rise until doubled. Bake at 375* for about 30 minutes, until golden and sounds hollow when knocked on.

There's so much going on in the world and in our country right now, but God is in control and He always wins. I give it all to Him every day, many times a day. What will be, will be. Now is the time to praise Him in the hallway until the next door opens and not in fear and anger. I watch you all the time and do not comment often, but y'all brighten my day. I so enjoy your vlog and your just every day goings on. The kids are awesome and you guys are doing it right. Struggles and joy and hope that your generation still has values and common sense. Keep the vlog going...you do make a difference in the world.

Getting overwhelmed by local news and news of the world - that was why I started watching KZbin channels like yours (way back when you were in Cali). The ‘morning shows’ were just blabbing bad news and hype, on repeat. So I turned off the idiot box in the morning and started watching US homesteading vlogs. I found the Hollar’s, Rhodes’s, Art and Bri and Jason and Lorraine and a ton of others. You all became my morning TV. I even ditched Dr Phil! I can go all day without turning on mainstream tv - I just watch my beautiful people! Thank you ❤️ for being there for so many people who just want reality and down home family content. - Joolz from South Australia 🇦🇺

You said the same thing through eight years of the black president and nothing happened. I don't care anyone's politics when I'm around good people. We are all Americans. We are all one big country of neighbors connecting from coast to coast. Stop letting the 0.1% billionaires on both sides divide us to make us week to enrich them. Stop letting that 1% crazy on the left and on the right speak for the rest of us. They don't but the media on both sides want us to think they do God bless America 🙏🇺🇲

@@karenwebber9200 I understand! Do what you can. Start simple. Maybe that means buying am extra jar or two (preferably of something you eat a lot of) when it's on sale. Do that each month, as you can, and rotate items. If you have income, try to put some aside as savings. Maybe plant lettuce seeds in a pot to go on a window sill. Or, maybe just encourage someone else! You don't have to go the whole shebang, all at once. Pick something small to work on, if at all possible. Do it, and be happy! And, it's ok to not be able to do as much as you'd like. Prioritize, and focus on what you think is both important and is what you can do, no matter how little. Baby steps are better than no steps! Drop by drop, a bucket can be filled. 💞

Good advice Ben! The good Lord gives us wisdom and discernment and our free will to act accordingly and to the best of our abilities based on the available information. After that it is all in God's great and wonderful hands. "Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed." I am pretty sure many of your viewers pray for your family and we should be praying for our nation without ceasing!

I agree, turn off the world, and turn on the homestead and family time. I have turned off what I can, but I also live and work in Chicago. As soon as I am home, I am at the park with my grandson, playing in the garden, cooking up some great food, then watching all my favorite homesteaders, chefs, and medical blogs. The world is so crazy and it can easily sweep you away with it. The garden and cooking has a way of stablizing us. I think that is why God made gardening such an important work for us to do. It relaxes us, keeps us engaged in our microenvironment, and gives us joy and peace.

I keep up with what's going on but continue to do what I do. If anything it kinda gives me more of a push to get more things done. I'm totally with ya about the heat exhaustion. I've had it too. I live in GA and with the 90+ degree days with high humidity the last couple of weeks, I've been dressed and ready to go outside as soon as it's light enough to see. I get a couple of hours in before the sun tops the trees, then I head inside, drenched from the humidity, and rest up for the day. "Drained" is the word to describe it and at the age of 63, not as easy to get past as in prior years... Hang in there and take care of yourself. As for the news, I've turned off everything except a few channels on YT, GAB and the Epoch Times. And I haven't even been watching much of any of those lately either. I live my life, keep up with my neighbors, family and animals and only check in to see if the world is still turning, every now and then. Sometimes you just need the brain break...

You speak the truth. I cut my cable, off, don't listen to world news, stopped buying magazine and newspapers. You can't change what you don't own. Looking after your family is living the dream. Being awesome parents and raising good children, not to mention supporting spouses are all #1. You will feel free and less tied to the stressful outside world. Peace

I had the overwhelm last year around this time. I just had to shut everything off. I shut down my personal social medias and everything. It was pulling me down to such a horrible spot. I've never gone back. All the news is worded to put fear in you, regardless of where its coming from. I got tired of always being fearful. Its so much better on this side. 😊

Do you ever think of your channel as a ‘ministry’? Your comment about feeling “overwhelmed” resonated with my husband. He has felt EXACTLY the same way for a few months. With all the flux in the world, he has really struggled with “…the right thing to do next.” So thank you for your timely comment. And thank you for continuing to make more content. God used you to bring him comfort, today. That’s a ministry :)

RULE #1 - Keep your larder full! That was my Grandma Hazel's advice....Our farm has been shut down to the public since March 2020. We have our customers and life is different, but like you said, you have to live your day close to the homestead...or farm. Good to see what a beautiful home environment you both have created for your family ~ Diane

I recently got rid of social media because of the toxic and anxiety inducing stuff going on in our country right now and it’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time. I am so so much more happy, calm, and productive. It’s been eye opening how overwhelming the world outside my own farm can get. Getting back to concentrating on my small happy world has been amazing! Great advice, thank you for sharing!

I live a life that is blessed, I often don’t know how to give the thanks that is deserved for such a life. I have rediscovered the faith I was taught as a child and am learning to grow in the glory and the power of the Holy Spirit. I spent many years afraid of life, and now I have no fears as I wear the armor of God. I am amazed to live in this time as we watch our savior battle the forces of evil. We choose the side of good, and we trust in God as we are prepared to defend our homes and our faith from those who might do us harm. I watch zero television and choose to watch those you tube videos that help me to become more close to the land and how to prepare for what may lie ahead. Stay strong, stay faithful

Good word - stop paying your attention to the things that you cannot change. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 Focusing in on thanksgiving & taking those things to God is key. The word "be" is an active verb - that means that I have a choice in the matter. I can choose to remain (to be) in anxious situations, or I can remove myself from those things I cannot change and place myself (to be) in a place of thanksgiving, praise and petition to the One who can change things. Blessings Hollar Homestead!

At a time when I was under unparalleled stress I found that I got some respite by listing every job that I thought of. I guess my brain-space was being taken up by holding those jobs in there because I feared I would forget them and then important things would go undone. By listing them on paper a few things happened. I had a handy list of all of the jobs to be done so that when I found myself with a small amount of free time, I could find an appropriate length job to do instead of worrying about the crisis-de-jour. But by being on the paper, I could free my mind up; I wasn't going to forget an important job, it was on the list. But, it didn't take up any brain space, the worry was much less. Good luck to you on perfecting the fine art of leaving jobs UNdone and still making the world happen.

My husband makes lists for his days and plans them out. He says it makes him feel less "crazy" and he can relax because he has planned his time to get through what he needs to or wants to do for the week. Sometimes the car breaks or something else breaks and wrecks his plan but he has it planned and he can just rearrange and continue with his week. I have always thought that he deals with his work load much better than I do. He says he has to do it this way or he'd feel too overwhelmed to fit it all in. I feel too constrained to put a list down so I do get anxious instead.

I'm aware, but I don't want daily updates of infections and deaths. Thanks but no thanks! I agree with you 100% Ben! Surround yourself with good positive people, and that goes for information that enters your consciousness. As a young girl my family went to a u-pick cherry farm in Kelowna, British Columbia!
