I have several sheepskins i would like to tan. It is just not something I’ve tried yet. Sometimes it takes longer to get started when I haven’t done it before or even seen it. That and I would like to avoid harsh chemicals

My senior year of high school, my friend and I attempted to tan a cow hide for a school project. We had no idea what we were doing and this was before KZbin. Lol It was as stiff as a board and we had to bow it over and tie it in the back of my truck to get to school. So yes! I would love to see a video of how to do it correctly! 😂

Tomatoe water works great to cook rice in or to put in soup or spaghetti. I never throw it away.

Oh yes on the hide tanning video!! I'm a visual/ hands on learner and I can't find very many simple tanning videos! Reading a book is pointless for me, it just doesn't click.

Meg I did my tomato’s about 3 weeks ago. I wish I had counted how many gallon bags I had and every bag was full. I actually thawed mine over night. I put the bags in kitchen tubs. They weren’t quite thawed so I rinsed them in cool water to remove the skins then put them in my roaster pan and cooked down until thick. Put into pint jars, since it’s just two of us and canned them. I laughed! For the amount of tomatoes I had. I finish with 48 pints. A lot of work for small amount. But I have to remember where they came from and what went into them. I hadn’t canned tomatoes for several years. How the mind forgets hard work. lol. Thanks for sharing your videos. Take care and God Bless. Cheers❤

Two pounds of great northern beans and one or two bacon ends in a pot is good eating for many!!! Add some corn bread with hot peppers and kernel corn and you really have a meal.

Truthfully any smoked meat works for this and you might want to smoke some hocks or jowls for it if you like such things. It is about flavoring the beans not so much the amount of meat. Just a way of using more and wasting less. The old timers I knew swore by "cheek meat". Those little spots of meat from the face of pigs next to the snout. Just a thought if you never heard of it. Old timers from your neck of the woods never wasted anything. Also love cheek meat from gators as I knew some Cajun folks too.

That looks a lot like Al's old smoker at his old homestead. Except he built a smoke house out of Tamerak wood. I am sure his old video is still there for anyone interested.

Awesome family efforts & great to see everyone being helpful & healthy! Thanks for sharing! I was watching your homestead search last night & was thankful you didn’t get the property away up in the hills where it was evident that flooding had happened. That property probably got flooded down the hillside during hurricane Helene! Blessings to all 🤗🇨🇦🌻
